I'm only on the fourth track so far, but already this album kicks Emancipation of Mimi's ass! I especially like Migrate, which is a wonderful opener. I hope it becomes the second single. I'd buy the album, but I have a feeling it will have a rerelease since all the big albums seem to nowadays (and Emancipation did anyways).

Buy it!

I love the album already. I think some of the songs will be growers, because they're starting to sound a little bit samey for me. The ones that really stick out to me righ tnow are "Migrate", "Touch My Body", "Cruise Control", "Side Effects", "I'm That Chick", "Bye Bye" and "I'll Be Loving You Long Time." IBLYLT is probably my favorite so far. Loveeeeeee it.

^"I'll Be Loving You Long Time" is by far the top track in my opinion as well. Even though that sample from DeBarge's "Stay with Me" is way overused, there's a reason it's so ubiquitous: it can make virtually any song insanely catchy. A close second for me in terms of favourites is "For the Record", I think that would make a great single choice in addition to any of the songs you mentioned. I definitely agree that some of the production gets repetitive and is very familiar (particularly the JD tracks), but the main draw of Mariah Carey's music has always been her voice, so a satisfying album from her doesn't really rely on cutting edge or adventurous production. That being said, I definitly think this album has slighlty bolder and more varied prouction than the last, so I prefer it a tad over otherwise excellent Emancipation of Mimi.

"Bye Bye" has been confirmed as the second single, by the way. While it wasn't really a stand-out to me, I think the sappy but easily relatable lyrics will make it a radio hit, so I'm definitly not opposed to it's release, especially since "Migrate" is inevitably going to see release down the road eventually, given that she's already performed it.

I may be going crazy, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that MC was going to release 5 singles from this album. If that's true, then here's my choices for singles, in order of release:

01. Touch My Body
02. Migrate
03. For The Record
04. I'm That Chick
05. Lovin' You Long Time

I like "For The Record" a LOT too... I remember hearing it on her perfume commercials a while ago and really liking it.

i listened yday too.. "I Wish You Well" definitely the best... good vocal nice piano..she too good in this.. another best track? "I'm That Chick"! the one and only good dance track inside... "O.O.C." still ok in term of fast tempo song... "Bye Bye" sad song... "I Stay In Love" very her 90s style... mid tempo song a bit r&b...

not really like her new try... "Touch My Body" ok for song not for the mv... "Migrate" are bad for me... plz, i dunwan it be single... "Cruise Control"/"Side Effects" still ok, but really destroy by rap part...

The album is very much "Emancipation of Mimi part 2" , but I'm liking it regardless.

there are plenty of really good tracks. "Cruise control" , "Migrate" , "That Chick" , "I'll be loving u long time" & "For The Record" are the best IMO.

that downside is that there are too many JD-produced tracks, which aren't bad tho, but they really blend together. she should have used some other producers , just few JD tracks would have been enough. Polow & Darkchild could have each make her a track instead

but overall it's an excellent album. I can't say if it's really better than mimi tho, I think they're both pretty equal.

I'm pretty sure there's going to be at least 5 singles off the album, if not more. They might release different singles in EU than in US like with mimi.

I love the album.

And I'm addicted to Side Effects. Though it would've been better without Jeezy. When she starts belting out at the ends she sound so in pain. Such a personal track, I'm really surprised!

I really like the way Mariah's voice sounds, but unfortunately I'm not really feeling the songs. I definitely prefer Emancipation.

I didn't know if I liked it the first time I listened, but it's grown on me really quickly. I think the melodies on this album are deceptive --- they appear simple at first, but then they get stuck in your head and you realize how well they actually work. "I Stay In Love" and "Love Story" are particularly good examples of this. I'll definitely be buying the CD when it hits the stores.

Also, "For The Record" is startlingly good. If Mariah/her record company doesn't release this as a single, they'll be making a very bad business decision. On the same topic, I don't think "Bye Bye" is an appropriate choice for a second single. It should have been "Migrate" instead at this point to build hype for the album. "Bye Bye" should have been saved for the last single.

"Bye Bye" initially sounded like a horrible single choice to me... but I find it really stuck in my head lately. It's got a very satisfying melody. And "For The Record" is my new favorite. As you said, Northerner, it's "startlingly good." I was shocked at how great it is. I don't like "O.O.C" yet but "Cruise Control" has really started to stand out to me. But yeah, "For The Record", "Migrate" and "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" are my favorites.

After listening a little bit more, my favorite songs are Migrate, Touch My Body, I Stay In Love, and Side Effects. I've especially started loving I Stay In Love. It's just so emotional, and the notes she hits by the end are fantastic.

"Touch My Body" is #1 again this week on the Billboard Hot 100. Congrats to Mimi. She has now tied Elvis for the most weeks at #1 by an artist.

When her album is released next week, she'll kick Leona Lewis off a #1 spot again. I wonder what the first week sales will be - unlike last time there's no doubt that she's still relevant but I'm going to guess that the sales won't be as big as Emancipation's.
