Album vs Single versions?
I was wondering if someone could tell me what songs have an album version and a single version?
However, I'm curious about certain songs. For example, I know that there is a difference between the single version of "alterna" and its album version on (miss)understood. So... do you get what I'm asking about? Which songs (that aren't completely different) have an album and a single version? Songs that wouldn't count would be, like, "Daybreak." The album version and the single mix show an obvious difference.

kanariya, Fly high, appears, and AUDIENCE come to my mind, I'm pretty sure they all had different versions on their singles (appears is the only one I'm not completely sure of)

I didn't even know alterna was different, haha XD
Anyway, I don't know of any others... only that a whole bunch of "I am..." album tracks had their lyrics changed before the release of the album, but they weren't singles~ except Endless Sorrow, where the ~gone with the wind ver.~ had lyrics at the end of the song changed. I don't think the other singles were altered... |

Is my memory wrong, or has it been said in the past that "Startin'" is different?
By the way, I did know about some of those songs (since they're obvious, i.e. "Endless sorrow" and "kanariya"). But I didn't know about some of the others (i.e. "too late")! Thanks, guys.

I was disappointed when I found "alterna" in (miss)understood is REALLY DIFFERENT from the PV or single version!
That's what I was disappointed to; it sounds so screeching than the single version. ugh! >:[

Compare the A BEST versions of Trauma, End roll, and Boys & Girls with the ones from LOVEppears. Boys & Girls was re-produced and re-mastered, while Trauma and End roll were re-sung altogether. The album version of monochrome is also different than the one on the A single.

I like alterna's single version more. It's more raw and reminds me of Heartplace somehow. Together When... is different (the piano is louder as single) and Born To Be... is different somewhere too but I can't remember exactly.

Together When... was released as a digital single so it could just be artifacts due to transcoding, maybe?

The bold are the single versions:
Fly high - Fly high "HAL'S MIX 2000" which is the PV (single) version (and I love it the most XD). immature - immature "JT Original CM Version" - It's the version used for a cm and found an appears single so you can call it a single version. WHATEVER - WHATEVER -version M- it's the album version but without the trance opening and there's also WHATEVER -version J- which is like an alternate version, different arrangement. monochrome - Well it's the same song but the single and album have a different ending for this song. The single one ending with people saying something and then going out and slamming a door. The album version just ends in a sudden way. LOVE ~refrain~ - LOVE ~Destiny~ which has different lyrics and is on the LOVE ~Destiny~ single and LOVE ~since 1999~ which is the duet with tsunku and has different lyrics too and found on this single. The 3 songs only have the same composition. A BEST has "New Vocal & Mix" for A Song for xx, Trust, Depend on you and End roll. A New mix (re-mastering?) of Boys & Girls. Daybreak - Daybreak "HAL'S MIX 2002" is the PV (single) version. Dearest - It has on the single the (Piano Version) which also has a PV of itself besides the original mix. Endless sorrow ~gone with the wind ver.~ - The single one is the Endless sorrow "Original Mix" of Endless sorrow (and the PV version too) the arrangement is very different. The original one is also on A BEST 2 -BLACK-. A BALLADS has all of those mixes and re-arranged versions except for some songs that stayed original. alterna - The album version is re-mastered. That's all I guess XD Last edited by ayumisrael; 14th June 2008 at 02:03 PM. |

Thank you for making this thread, Venus! I was recently wondering what to make of some songs I had where I could have sworn they were different than the album ver. but I couldn't detect a difference when I compared single and album ver.'s.
I could have sworn that BtB... and Startin' were different in some way, but now I'm not sure if it's just in my head. x_x
