need opinions on my Ayumi Tattoo options
hello everyone, I am new to this forum but have been an Ayu fan for 8 years now. I am here because I finally decided to get a tattoo, the first ever on me, and I haver never wanted anything more than to get Ayumi's "A" symbol somewhere on my back or on my inner bicep...
the thing is, I have been thinking about ayumi tattoo options other than the usual "A" and have come up several, in most I base the design on Ayu's 10th aniversary logo, but I didnt like the crown so much so I removed it and made some mods: Trial 2 - Here I removed the crown and replaced that part with what was missing on the right part of the heart.... but honesly, having a heart tattooed on you doesnt feel that "manly", so I discarded this one first. Trial 3 - So I thought about removing half a heart, therefore I had to make the right side of the "A" symbol black. I like this one, but it still feels like a heart, although a female friend said it looks "sharp and strong".... right Trial 4 & 5 - With the next two, I tried getting the A to be asymetric, but the heart shape and feeling stood stronger than with the previous one. Trial 6 - finally I decided to take the whole heart out, I was too lazy to get the full work, but if I decide for this one I will ask the tattoo specialist to get the wing lines as close to the A as possible Finally, here are a couple of other choices I originally thought of getting, I havent discarded them yet. They feel more "elegant", but still, I like the whole "Wing + A" idea... not only because of Ayu, but because to me it also sort of implies "ONE WINGED ANGEL", and Sephiroth (FFVII) is one of my favorite characters of all time, plus it means you are a fallen angel, neither too good nor too evil (that is how I see it anyway). In that sense I was also thinking about the A with one wing located inside My Story's key logo, but I havent been able to find a good quality image of it yet. I am here looking for your opinions and perhaps even other options, and if you want to take these pics for youselves be my guests So what do you fellow ayu fans think? |

I have a new option:
Trial 7 - la_de_da@jpopsuki did this for me I really loved this one, the wing looks not just cleaner but the whole tattoo looks clearer and darker when the wing is black rather than white with a black outline (as before), and as pointed out by la_de_da, sephiroth's wing should be dark 8) |

I personally think those crowns (the two last ones you posted) look ugly.

thanks for your opinions guys, it was a little slower than from a couple of other forums where I also got feedback and already selected a design:
Most probably I'll get the tattoo done tomorrow, on my upper left back with a size of around 3.5x6.5 cm. And, I think I should post here why I have choosen this tattoo (because I answered a similar question in the A-H.net forums): In my case, first off, Ayumi was the one that got me hooked into JPop back in 2000. I've followed her career since then, but as time went by I discovered dozens of other artists, not just japanese but chinese and korean as well, and even some from other asian countries. There is no singer out there of whom I have read more about and respect more than Ayumi, whenever she releases a new album I preorder it, much like everyone in this forum. Still, is Ayumi my favorite japanese singer, she was, until I discovered Misia. But Misia's genre is R&B and Soul, Ayumi's is Pop/Rock. A-mei, form Taiwan, is one of the best pop-ballad singers I've ever heard, and Korea has some of the best R&B singers I've had the pleasure of listening too... Still, no matter how many great artists I come across, and how Ayumi's new releases could go up and down, Ayumi still has that spot in my heart that no other singer could replace. But I also have a soft spot for a Bacon Ultimate Cheesburguer from Jack in the Box, why dont I get that tattooed? hahahahaha. Seriously, I have always loved Ayu's A symbol, its simple and sharp. But today, 8 years after I started with asian music, to me there is nothing out there that represents more my passion for music in general, than Ayu's A. I love music, always had and always will, and not as a performer, but as audience who just enjoys the finished product. So there is the first +, the A represents my passsion for music which I guess will never fade, maybe I wont be playing ayu's albums again and again when I am 60, but i am sure I will be playing something hehe With that in mind I would get the A on itself, but, there is something more. The ONE WINGED ANGEL theme... I want to get an A with a wing, the A meaning Angel of course. I have several philosophies in life, and one of the important but simple ones is that nothing is all black or all white, and I in particular, I have the potential to be very good, or very evil, but I want none of either extreme. The one winged angel theme represents then the angel who fell from heaven, but actually was thrown out because he wasnt so pure, he had some evil in him... and I like to think that I can be like that, someone who is a "nice guy" but that hates to be all nice, I actually hate people who act all nice ... so in many ways this one winged theme applies to how I look and go through life. Finally and I cant deny this, SEPHIROTH, one of my favorite game/anime characters, is called the one winged angel, so an A with a black wing could represent him too. In the end, no matter how many meanings I find to tattoo like this, the fact that it starts with my respect and admiration for Ayumi Hamasaki cant be denied, but that alone wouldnt suffice in getting the life-long tattoo done. I feel that with the other considerations in mind: my passion for music and my philosophy on life of the good-evil idea represented through the one-winged angel theme, getting the one winged A doesnt feel like a fanboy's ouburst that I would regret later in life. At least that is how I see it now After all that, I leave you with a couple of more designs I was considering, just in case anyone finds any use for them: Cheers! (I'll post a pic of the tattoo once it heals) |
