This always, always happens to me. Usually i try to avoid double post by pressing the "Back Button" and clicking "post a new thread" again. Most of the time, it works on the second try.

I'm pretty sure this a bug in the vbulletin software.

This is what I do when making a new topic:
I keep 2 browser windows open. In one window I make and submit the topic. If it doesn't seem to go through I refesh the forum in the other window to check. If it really was posted I'm fine, if not I press 'back' like chibi_sunny and try again.

This is a good solution I've learned to avoid posting dupliates. However, sometimes it'll not only give me an error page; my written post will have disappeared when I go back.

If you ever write a lengthy post, or one you wouldn't want to rewrite, press CTRL+A to select what you've written and CTRL+C to copy it. That way if your post somehow disappears, you can just paste it on the blank form.

i do something similar too usually. i don't like to post duplicate threads.

i have similar problems a lot just browsing the forum though. everything will be fine and then suddenly for a few minutes i get "page cannot be displayed" no matter what i do. and then it'll just come back and be ok.

Yes, it's always a good idea to keep a copy in hand.

It always happens to me.
I think it's when you are writing on that page/thread too long and the server forgets your data.

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

OK, so I use Firefox to browse the internet, and it seems to not like this forum. Sometimes, when I create a new topic and hit "Submit New Thread," it'll load and just stop at a blank screen. So I hit reload, and it'll load again, and make another copy of the topic. It just happened to me, and it's probably the third or fourth time I've had to PM a staff member to delete the duplicate topic. It really irks me.

Just check the chat-room or whatever forum you're in to see if the thread (or reply) was posted or not. That's the best option to do, without having to repost.

With firefox, if you click CTRL+R and redo the information it only has the thread once. Hope that helps

i do have the same problem. that's why i normally open 2 windows to check(my secret recipe of why i can posts more too). i notice that if you accidentally double click submit new thread, it would have this kind of problems.

^ Ditto, I get that happening to me a lot, too x___x Well, usually if it goes to the blank screen, I just press "refresh" or just go to the forum to check if it already posted. Ah, before I do all this though, I make sure to copy + paste to Notepad before I press "Submit"...just in case the post gets deleted completely

If only I did that~~~ Good idea though!

I use Firefox too. Sometimes it says "Connection timed out", and that's really annoying. Maybe, just don't refresh it and just expect it to be posted.

Well, I've learned from the past few years that sometimes the internet can't be trusted when it comes to saving a journal entry or something...I just hate that feeling after I write something really long up and then it doesn't get posted! x_x; So yeah, copy + paste is your friend for the most part.
