Songs about Death?
Has Ayu wrote any songs that are about death?
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask. If it is not mods feel free to move. |

I had the same question while Memorial address was out.
I think Memorial address should be one, but I am not sure.

I read the lyrics to MA awhile ago and it does seem that it is about death.

^ I think somethings were lost in translation... no way could she mean "pleasant" as in happy. Perhaps she meant it's comfortable to listen to; or a gentle song...

who, dearest and momentum don't openly talk about death, even if they are dedicated to someone who died (well, only who in this case) this is the way i see the cited songs...
Who... even if it's speculated to be a song for her grandma who passed away, the song only talk about some beloved one that is far away... in the end it's used as her main fan song: Spoiler:
Duty IMO is about the end of her peak, and the end of her career (considering this album was released at the Dome Tour/A Best year, maybe ayu's most depressing one) Spoiler:
Dearest... the only part that sounds to be about death it's when she says that she wants to remember her beloved's face until the day of her death... what means that she wants to remember it forever, but on a much more dramatic way xD Spoiler:
Momentum... isn't it about someone who broke up with her cuz she did something wrong? Spoiler:
rainy day Spoiler:
End roll... isn't it about breaking up? Spoiler:
Far away... another one about breaking up? Spoiler:
IMO those are the only really about death: untitled ~for her~... openly about her friend Spoiler:
Heaven... tie-in for a tragic romantic ninja movie (wtf?! xD) Spoiler:
MA Spoiler:
ever free... is she describing a funeral? Spoiler:
Gosh... ayu really is very dramatic xD Last edited by Andrenekoi; 16th November 2009 at 08:25 PM. |

Ah. Some songs are certainly about death while others mention death, or something kind of related to it (parting forever; "Dearest," "HEAVEN"). Interesting.
By the way, Andrenekoi, thank you for your descriptions. I might have read something about the lyrics of "Duty" relating to Ayu's career, but I could have forgotten. Either that or I simply didn't know. But wow, those are depressing. o_o She's so deep...

There are a few songs that seem very obviously about death, such as untitled ~for her~ or HEAVEN. But songs like Dearest... I really think it's up to how you interpret it. There are so many songs that COULD be about death, but on the other hand, Ayumi could just be dramatically telling a story about a lost love. So it's all how you look on certain ones.
