V6 to disband on November 1

It's been announced that V6 will be disbanding on November 1.

The disbandment was announced on March 12 via Johnny's & Associates' official website. As all of the members are now in their forties, Morita Go expressed his wishes of leaving the agency in order to challenge himself as an actor.

The other members respected his wishes, and as they started to think about their own growth, they wanted to challenge themselves to the next step as well. Moreover, they felt that "V6 wouldn't be V6 without these six members." As such, they decided to disband.

While Morita will leave Johnny's & Associates on November 1, Sakamoto Masayuki, Nagano Hiroshi, Inohara Yoshihiko, Miyake Ken, and Okada Junichi will remain with the agency. Furthermore, 20th Century, which is comprised on Sakamoto, Nagano, and Inohara will continue their activities, while Coming Century, comprised of Morita, Miyake, and Okada, will end their activities.

J-pop idol group V6 to disband

J-pop idol group V6, who welcomed their 25th anniversary last year, will be disbanding on 1 November, which also marks their debut anniversary.

The decision stemmed from the fact that Morita Go, one of the group members, will be quitting the agency Johnny & Associates this autumn. The other members will resume solo activities under Johnny & Associates after the disbandment.

V6 made their debut in 1995 as a six-member group. Their first single Music For The People was used as the theme song for the Volleyball World Cup. Similar to the other idol groups (SMAP, Arashi, etc.) produced by Johnny & Associates, the members of V6 — Sakamoto Masayuki , Hiroshi Nagano , Inohara Yoshihiko , Morita Go , Miyake Ken & Okada Junichi — are also active in acting and hosting variety shows, apart from singing and dancing.

Anime fans may know V6 from their iconic song Change The World, which was used as the first opening song for Inuyasha.

In an official statement from Johnny & Associates, the agency said that Morita wanted to challenge himself as an actor in an environment away from Johnny’s. Apparently, the others took his feelings into consideration, and they made the decision to disband after many discussions.

In addition, Johnny & Associates clarified that although Morita’s wish to leave the company was the trigger, the fact was that the other five were also getting older — they are in their forties. That was why everyone was able to accept and respect Morita's feelings.

Resuming activities as a five-member V6 was also out of the question as they had decided that “if it is not these six people, it is not V6.”

According to an acquaintance of Morita, he had strongly desired to devote himself to the acting business for some time. He said that he wanted to take on challenges that could not be done at Johnny & Associates.

This kind of remind me of Yamapi's departure where my friend said he wanted to do a lot of things while he was still in J&A but J&A refused to allow him to do so

And it's interesting that the way that senior Johnny groups think & react to things like this is very different as compared to other groups who have lost members over the years but they still continue on

V6 to be in charge of the theme song for 'Tokusou9'

V6's new song "Bokura wa Mada" has been picked up as the theme song for TV Asahi's drama 'Tokusou9 season 4' starring member Inohara Yoshihiko.

This is the group's first new song since they announced that they will be disbanding on November 1. It's described as a medium-tempo song with a positive message that says to keep moving forward with a smile despite the responsibility and pressure of becoming an adult.

'Tokusou9 season 4' is scheduled to begin on April 7. Stay tuned for more details on the song!

3 versions of the single will be released , CD & 2 CD + DVDs

CD only has 2 bonus tracks which both CD + DVDs did not include them

Harumi & V6 will be providing a new song that will be used to promote NHK's Minna no Uta during Aug to Sept

This's in line with celebrating Minna no Uta's 60th anniversary since NHK began broadcasting the show back in 1951
