Two of us (found on 'Depend on you')
ever free (found on 'vogue') Life (found on 'Mirrorcle World') theme of a-nation '03 (found on '&') but it was later included on A SUMMER BEST. I THINK those are her only true b-sides as in they are only available on their respective singles in their original form that is not a remix, cover, or re-recording.

So a B-side means it was not supposed to be included in a studio album??

a lot of b-sides can be songs from album tracks though i'm looking for original songs that are not featured on any album at all, only on the single as a b-side these songs can be quite rare to find, especially in artists who release singles worldwide |

Will on HEAVEN is also an odd one that could be considered b-side depending on your definitions.
Personally, I'd only consider b-sides as those that did not appear on album releases that followed (although I do believe theme of a-nation counts as b-side). But then again, the fact that they excluded a lot of a-sides on A COMPLETE -all singles- makes you wonder... |

It always kinda bugged me that they didn't include all the songs from multiple a-side singles.
Hilariously, I came up with a 4-disc single collection before A COMPLETE was announced, that included all the multiple a-side tracks, and the way the tracks were divided up was WAY better - each disc was a very clear era of ayu's career. It was awesome.

Just because the song is on an album doesn't mean it isn't a b-side on its respective single.
Wings by Utada Hikaru is the b-side for her "Keep Tryin'" single and it's on an album. It's just the lesser promoted song. Same thing with her Devil Inside single with "Wonder 'Bout" being the b-side/on the second side of the record and it's also on the album. (although it doesn't have to be on a record) So going by that. I think these are Ayu's B-sides. Friend Two of Us Love ~since 1999~ ever free Theme of A-Nation '03 GAME alterna Will Beautiful Fighters Secret decision Life Red Line ~for TA~ Seven Days War also keep in mind that just because it has a video doesn't mean it isn't a b-side. I'm not including teens because it was a cover she did for an album, and they tossed on an acoustic version on the startin' single. Last edited by orangeakira; 11th April 2014 at 12:10 AM. |

Usually when people ask what an artist's b-sides are, though, they're asking for non-album tracks.

«Love ~Destiny~» counts?
Because LOVEppears has «Love ~refrain~»... And Seven Days Wars was a cover like Happening Here.

I agree with Derlirium about the non album tracks.
B-Side shouldnt even be used anymore because we dont use records which is where the term came from anyways... But its kind of stuck with a B-side is something extra to get you to buy the single because that would have been the only way to get it... With digital sales though its kinda becoming irreverent. Ayumi's 'double' a-sides though are confusing since just the first track is included in her Complete singles... But GAME is rather interesting because it is billed as a b-side, the c/w literally means coupled with (or combined or comes with) which IS a b-side... lol |

In my brain, if a song in the single has a PV, is another a-side and it will be included in the next album

I'll apologize in advance for bumping this wicked old thread, but I am putting together a playlist of b-sides and 'b-sides' and would like some input. I once played with the idea of A B-Sides (after A Best and A Ballads, the latter of which had just been released) and designed a cover for it and all (thread is here; the concept cover I made no longer shows, I'll try to dig it up - it used a photo from a then-recent shoot, I think) but back then there wasn't much.
So what's new? For the purposes of my playlist I include: - True b-sides: tracks only found as b-sides on a single and not on any regular album (comps excluded) - Non-album tracks: tracks only found on a comp or other non-album release - Singles that were not featured on any album What I don't include: - C/W tracks, the b-sides of singles that were also featured on a regular album - Remixes - Tracks of which only a live performance exists - Recently released single tracks that may still appear on an album - Hidden tracks on albums Following this definition, my playlist so far includes: Two of us, ever free, theme of a-nation '03, 卒業写真, Mirrorcle World, LIFE The version of a song is born with Keiko I am also considering including, as well as Endless Sorrow. Since these concern only different versions though I am a bit on the fence about it. I'm not looking for a discussion on what constitutes a b-side (I know; I follow my own guidelines anyway) but since I'm not yet familiar enough with some later releases (working on it!) I appreciate any help with those. THANKS!
