jiayulam's right you can look like whatever you want to look like as long as you have money. Also she gets paid to look good...it's her job, so i mean that's what she works toward.

It's just funny how some people always compare stars to their pre-star days.

The time span for this case is quite a bit (10 years or so). I mean, is it so hard to believe that a person will have the same attributes for 10 years, especially when that 10 years happen to be a part of someone life where most of the changes took place?

I mean, I didn't see some of my friends for 2 years, and they couldn't recognize me at all. Even looking at some pictures I found myself changing quite a lot. And I don't even get star treatment and I can change that much in 2 years. Just think logically and you'll see how ayumi can change that dramatically.

Yes, Ayu's physical maturity has helped her become who she is today, but it's also largely due to makeup. Her yellow tan is gone and her hair is now bronze. Either she's stayed inside too much and lost all pigments on her skin and hair color, or her makeup artist did a bang-up job. Of course, it might also be the lighting.

There's some things that a change of facial expression and a span of 10 years can't change on their own but that's just my speculation. =P

And how does the fact that she's human shoots down the argument that she may've had surgery? That only increases it. If she WAS a goddess then by all means it strangles the argument and does horrible things to its corpse but really o_o

Certainly some people looks better as they get older, but some look a lot worse and some don't change at all. (guess where i fit? x_x) But a this point I'm ramblign so carry on... =X

Sorry girls and guys, it just bothers me that so many have to say that the only reason she looks so good is because of surgery. I dun believe that. As a woman, I know how makeup can affect things, as well as simply the way she poses for pictures. As someone skilled with Photoshop, I know how that can change things to (Even got a sample if anyone wants to see while I was messing with Photoshop a week or so ago). I could go on, but either people agree or don't, and I dun wanna lecture.

I think most of it has to do with photo retouches and camera angles. She looks really pretty in her promo pictures and CD covers, but not that great in public appeareances.

And there's plastic surgery and all the crap =D

I was REALLY ugly during my 10-11 year old days because I had an overbite, long nasty oily hair, and yucky clothes. I wore these ninja turtle pants, okay?

But ever since I brushed up my looks with 3 1/2 years of braces, chopped off my hair, spent a fortune getting new clothes, and dropped 25 pounds, I look completely different. I have pictures to prove it.
And that's just in 4 years.

Think how AYu could've changed in 10.

....Well, for me, I always thought that she changed because of plastic surgery. However, most people here are correct too. She could just looks different in poses, with make-up, etc.

As most people are guessing, Ayu probably did just grow up into her image now, but judging from the "poker face" cover and for ex. "A BEST" cover, you can tell she had some kind of surgery.

It's only my guess and opinion, so please don't get upset.
