part of Me & Memorial address
I remember back then, there was a theory about these 2 songs...
Memorial address was a hidden track in A BEST 2 -BLACK-, it lies within part of Me, the only new track from the best album. That theory said why ayu wrote the song title "part of Me" with capital M, that's because it's actually "part of Me(morial address)". Is it confirmed? Like ayu probably ever said something that the song is connected or that's just a simple theory? Because if yes, that would be so cool.

I have never seen a comment from her, but I think it makes sense, since part of Me talks about being together in another life and Memorial address deals with a death. For me, they totally feel connected. Not an episode II deal, just something following the other

Wow I have never heard about that. This is interesting. Hope that's what Ayu's intention is, that they're connected in this way.

I remember that theory, I always took it for granted! Might sound weird, but for me the meaning you put in things is as important as the meaning that was intended, so for me it's true!

That is an interesting theory! I really like the idea that both songs are somehow related, at least lyrically. They are both among my favorites!

It's interesting and I think you are right. Part of Me fits on Memorial Adress Album and both songs are awesome and fits together

Lyrically though, it's clear that she's talking to two different people through these songs. part of Me is about having a soulmate and how they'll find each other again even when they're reborn. Memorial address deals with a death, yes, but she's saying, "I wanted to hear that you really loved me/Just once, even if it was a lie."
That theory doesn't hold for me tbh. |

I think it has to deal with her... both have ME in it and it is her singing, so its actually part of her.

Don't know why, but I've always thought that "part of Me" is about her fans. Of course, it could be about a soulmate or a lover, but every time I hear the song and/or read the lyrics I get the feeling that she is talking to her fans.

^ I thought the same! And the song it's in A BEST 2, so can be a present to her fans.
Only one perfomance I thought she isn't singing it to her fans is in PoM but at the same time she can xD

I thought Memorial address was about her father, just like A Song for xx.

A Song for XX is a song addressed to her mother, regarding how life was after the departure of her father.

I mean...it's pretty obvious if you look at the lyrics. The theory is that she heard about her father's death and this song was written as a reflection on their non-relationship and how it was too late to salvage anything, since he passed away.
"You became a star, alone" "You have gone to the place where we can never meet again/ I can't accept the coldness of eternal parting" |
