Who is more popular in Japan

In Japan, which artist is mroe popular?Ayu or BoA???

Probably Ayu, since her CD sales total in the millions. While BoA's sold a bit, I don't think she has the impact Ayu has.

Well, this is what bugs me.. if Ayu really is more popular.. then why not pick her to represent japan? why they picked BoA? mabey its a tie.. mabey BoA is the more popular ousider and Ayu is the more popular insider.. meaning nationality

what about Utada?

I seriously don't know about that question, as there hasn't been an actual answer to it since it was first announced. My guess is that they either wanted BoA to be exposed more, thought she perhaps represented Asia (because of her language background), or maybe it was easier to have her there than someone else, but of course, I can't say for certain on any of this

And probably take into consideration MTV's audience's age group, I dunno, which is popular is sort of subjective. Personally I think Ayu though, otherwise all those other companies would get BoA as spokesperson instead of Ayu.

Also about the MTV thing...everyone needs to remember that Ayu is on tour. Maybe she just doesn't have time.

You're right... Ayu did have a tour in Osaka on the 14th, so that may very well be one of the main reasons for having BoA instead of Ayu!

BoA is actually in Japan, because Avex made a deal to promote BoA in Japan in exchange for being able to sell Japanese cds in Korea actually ^^ hehe

people this was established long before this. the reason why BoA went to the MTV thing was because she would kill 2 birds with 1 stone, representing both Korea and Japan. Ayu couldn't attend because of her schedule, but that's not the reason. It was smarter to have BoA go anyways.
