Days wasn't HUGE. The song resonated well within her fan base, but it wasn't nearly as big as Together When... or HEAVEN. I think even Sunrise did better digitally.

^ yeah. Together When... crossed 750 000 downloads for chaku uta's and 500 000 for Chaku uta fulls (Tal will correct me if I'm wrong). Days PV did amazingly well digitally though.

I was expecting a bit more. I forgot how Ayu's been selling lately. But compared to other artists, the sales aren't bad at all for what's essentially a long single.

Ayu last big hit, that really made success outside her fanbase was BLUE BIRD... After that, she had some minnor hits, and songs that performed really well (Together When..., Glitter, My All, Mirrorcle World, Next Level, Rule, Days, EnergizE, You were..., Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~, MOON, Crossroad, Virgin Road and Love Song), but they performed really well with her fanbase and casual listeners...

Still, all of her eras had their hits...

Yeah, honestly, a lot of people over estimate the popularity of those more recent songs. To me, a BIG hit is a song that everybody knows whether they like the artist or not. I don't like AKB48, but I know all their singles from the past 2 years because you can't help but hear them everywhere. For Ayu, that is stuff like Dearest, Boys and Girls, and Seasons. So from that perspective, she has had hits after that but not very many BIG hits. In fact I would say the last at least semi big hits were Step You and Blue Bird.

yaaay! 120k!

^ so the last big hit was BLUE BIRD?.. I was in Japan on July-August 2006 and I remember how my Japanese language teacher tried to make us learn this song and sing together, she really enjoyed it! (so did I ). She wasn't ayu fan though.

it's sad, if BLUE BIRD is really her last big hit -.- it was 5 years ago!! >.<

I beg to differ. It seems her popularity is actually keeping up nicely (as these sales indicate) while the quality of her work is crumbling away...

I was expecting less sales so I really well surprised with the actual sales, I hope the release of Tales of Xillia will help a bit =)

I confirm it. The last "Ayu's real hits" were STEP you and Blue Bird...

I think her quality has been rather consistent for a long time now. It depends on the listener, but for me, she always manages to make good music even on album number 1X, lol.

Also, I think she probably needs a radio friendly track in order to have another hit, but for a long while now she hasn't really released many of those.

Can't believe ayu got a Sunday boost!! xD
Total first week sales should be exactly like I predicted 120,000-125,000 lol. Maybe even 130,000?
