Nope. I live in L.A. too...where her "husband" lives. The only Japanese artists that are ever talked about are probably Utada and AKB48. Korean artists are talked about too but surprisingly, I think Chinese artists are the most famous here o_o

Not really here in France, I have some Asian friends who heard of her, but that's all.

But in China, YES SHE'S REALLY FAMOUS.

Asian music doesn't even exist in this area. I'm the only one who listens to Asian music. ;__;

I feel like I'm the only one who knows ayu here ; A ; my ex-bf was a super fan though...

It's sad that in my neighbor countries she was very popular and they can buy the albums locally. I live in Philippines btw XDD

Not at all. It's very rare if I find someone who knows who she is. (Like my boyfriend lol.)

No, I'd probably be hard to find people in this general area.
Though I'm sure that some probably exist and I don't know.

No, the average person has no idea who Ayu is, but there are some people in my Japanese classes who are familiar with her.

No, though a fair few of my friends know of her because of their interest in Japan. I think I'm the only one in our group who actually listened to her music though.

No, but there's a lot of Asians at my uni, so a lot of people know of her.

Her CD's can be found pretty easily in Toronto's Chinatown, or at Pacific Mall in Markham

I once had a purse that I attached a bunch of Ayu buttons to in the hope that someone will see and be like, "Oh, you like her too??? Let's be friends!" And my school has a high transfer rate from Japan and Korea so I thought I would find someone.
But I only got one person who was like, "Um, isn't that Ayumi Hamasaki?" and I said, "YES!" and they said, "Oh, cool."
So, yeah, that's a no.
