I love singing in Japanese. To me, it's such a beautiful-sounding language and has a way of being poetic even in normal conversation. Combine that with my love of singing and music, and my love of Ayu, and you've basically given me my favorite thing ever to do.

I think the first Ayu song I ever learned was Dearest (Maybe?), but since then I've learned countless others, like talkin' 2 myself, ANGEL'S SONG, ourselves, Mirrorcle World (and, by extension, Mirror), HOPE or PAIN, 1 LOVE, crossroad... etc.

I used to sing Ayu's songs as a pastime ....It was always a lot of fun. In fact, singing Ayu's songs really improved my vocals! My range increased and I learned how to incorporate vibrato (NO IT SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE AYU'S LOL!) into my voice. It would always be exciting when Ayu would release something new and I'd learn the vocals to sing it. Man, I miss those days....if only I had more privacy .

I have a terrible voice, but it's still very fun to sing them. I have a hard times though with songs like ourselves, about you, and inspire where she sort of slurs her words, and a few words I'm just like..what???

I know 98% of her songs by heart, and I sing them often. Sometimes in public...I get crazy looks, hahaha.

it's not like I really try to.. I just naturally know the lyrics to songs from listening to them so much.

Since I am at an intermediate level of Japanese, I find it really easy to sing her songs. I might not know what she is saying 60% of the time, but I can usually sing along almost perfectly, if I know the song well enough.

I have tendency to learn lyrics easily, and it's actually harder for me to learn them by reading the lyrics. Especially with japanese. The romanisations are quite abstract and it isn't easy to learn 'em by reading.
So basically I learn the lyrics by ear. I have actually tested if my techinque works, and the answer is Yes. When I read the lyrics when singing as my ears heard them, it's about 60% right.

There are three advantages. The first is, that I'm used to heard Japanese daily about 5 years a row now, so I know how Japanese is pronounced rightly.
The second is that Finnish and Japanese prounouncing is nearly the same, expect some sounds. So it's pretty easy to pronounce them rightly.
Third is that I have been listening to Ayu almost 5 years and nearly nonstop, so I have learned her lyrics quite well~
Just take a notice here, that I'm not singing Ayu's songs if I don't have Ayu's support in background! ;D And besides, I'm not good at singing but I just enjoy it~
Songs I can sing nearly perfect:
A somg for xx
Hana
POWDER SNOW
SIGNAL
Fly High
Boys & Girls
P.S II
AUDIENCE
I am...
Connected
UNITE!
evolution
A song is born
flower garden
everlasting dream
WE WISH
Real me
HANABI
everywhere nowhere
July 1st
Voyage
Independent+
ANGEL'S SONG
Greatful days
HANABI ~episode II~
ourselves
forgiveness
My name's WOMAN
Moments
Replace
Humming 7/4
Bold & Delicous
STEP you
Ladies Night
alterna
Are You Wake Up? [lol : D]
fairyland
Beautiful Day
Not yet
until that Day...
Startin'
1 LOVE
JEWEL
momentum
Born To Be...
Beautiful Fighters
BLUE BIRD
glitter
MY ALL
Bridge to the sky
NEXT LEVEL
EnergizE
Saprkle
rollin'
identitety
Rule
Microphone
count down
Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~
BALLAD
Don't look back
Jump! [lol again XD]
Lady Dynamite
Sexy little things
Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~
RED LINE ~for TA~
misc.:
Mirrorcle World
A
RAINBOW
theme of a-nation '03

I'm saying nearly perfect, because I can't be 100% if my ears really do pick up the right words : D But at least it seems so!

Yeah I do. Some songs are harder to sing than others. I've never actually sat down and memorized lyrics before. I'm adamant about not using anything but kanji to learn ayu's songs so if she uses a kanji I can't read then it becomes harder for me to remember. But there are some songs I remember purely by listening to them:

You & Me
Dearest
crossroad
fairyland
vogue

I sing for myself so why not? I think that I can sing 50 % of all her songs. For me it's very easy to remember stuff I like. It's the same with our Zumba-Class. I love it so I can remember it. But for me it's a hobby and I don't want to sing in front of others.
