What 3 songs would you pick to introduce Ayu to a friend?

I thought this would be fun. My apologies if a similar thread exists.

As the title says - you have three songs to introduce a friend to Ayu's music... Which three would you pick?


My three: Feel the Love, SURREAL, Hanabi ~Episode II~

It's frustratingly hard picking only three when her sound is so diverse - and I feel different parts of her music can appeal to different types of listeners.

Therefore, I tried to pick three of my personal favorites that hit different marks, but appeal to a new listener: I wanted to pick one poppy/dance song(Feel the Love), one of her more classic electronic/rock songs(SURREAL), and a slower song(Hanabi Episode II).

Runner-ups: Dearest, RAINBOW, and Mirrocle World.

It would depend on the person, because I would like to know their musical tastes and then match the songs accordingly.

But generally speaking, I'd choose my top two favorites which are M and Memorial address. The third would be Love song because I believe it would be well received by most people.

HANABI, walking proud, and Memorial address - they're just a selection of my favourites that I feel showcase Ayu's 'sound'.

If they enjoyed those tracks, then I would introduce them to her other masterpieces, SURREAL, RAINBOW, Duty, M, evolution, appears, etc.

I would actively try and provide them with a few 'new' Ayu tracks also, like Break down, Mad World, don't look back, Love song, etc.

As much as people say that Ayu is 'over', when you really think about it, she has an incredibly diverse and impressive discography beneath her. I wish she would take advantage of it more in her tours and lives.

Oh funny, I have tried to introduce Ayu to a couple of friends, though I cannot say my strategy worked haha.

I show them:

1. Last minute
2. an older song, mostly RAINBOW(!), M, End roll, evolution or a live version of A Song For Xx Pick one.
3. A weirder song or from which the visuals of the PV are striking, like RAINBOW (again), Sparkle, part of me, ourselves, Marionette, Startin', Ladies Night, Mirrorcle World, Mad World/FLOWER, JEWEL, alterna. Pick one again.

Hmmm interesting question! This is actually kinda hard because of the amount of songs Ayu has and also because if I overthink it, I reckon my choices probably wouldn't be converting anyone.

As it happens, one of my friends did really enjoy 3 songs from (miss)understood, so we'll go with those:

It would depend on the person, but probably A song for xx, SURREAL and M. They're classics, and pretty representative of her music. They'll give you a good impression of whether the friend will actually like Ayu without overwhelming them with too many albums.

If people ask/are willing to listen to a whole album, I just lend them A Best.

I'd want to represent her three main styles: pop, rock, and ballads. So my list would be:

fairyland: Very sweet upbeat summer pop song with a hint of melancholy, which is a theme a lot of her songs carry.
talkin' 2 myself: This song features her lower register, her usual soft intro, some strings, and just sounds pretty bangin'.
Moments: This isn't even one of my favorite songs by her but it's such a perfect ballad. It has such a beautiful, uplifting melody and the lyrics really exemplify how poetic Ayu is.

I tend to show my friends the live performance of BALLAD on RnRC Tour and it does grab their attention. Another live one I pick most of the times is M, usually from A BEST LIVE, and also A Song for xx, either from A BEST LIVE or a-nation 08

But when it comes to actual songs, I pick Love song and SURREAL a lot, and pick the rest based on the person's taste since ayu has so many different sounds and you can use that to appeal to diverse audiences
