I guess, after 10 years, ayu already has a steady fanbase, all of whom will follow her through thick and thin. Whether there is a large promotion or not, there will always be that 100,000 confirmed buyers of her every release. And that is what her hard work of 10 years has produced. My guess is that avex knows this, so maybe they wanted to channel their money elsewhere, to buoy up other artistes. As a fan of almost 6 years, I can say that I don't really bother about ayu's sales anymore. Seeing ayu at the top of the charts still makes me happy, but seeing her getting beaten by upcoming artistes doesn't feel so bad anymore. I guess as the years go by, you stop having the mentality that "EVERY SINGLE MUST BE A BEST-SELLING HIT AND SELL 1 MILLION COPIES!!! IF NOT, AYU IS DECLINING!!!". Now, all I care about is that ayu continues being healthy and well, doing what she loves, and that I myself contribute, out of my own pocket, to help maintain her dream. Just my opinion. ^^
