ugh this is hard. they're both good in their own ways. but...i think the final answer will be BoA's album for me. i still love utada's album, though. there should be a "both" option, lol.

I definitely prefer Utada's album muscially, waiting for it to release on Itunes, but as for which one is "has better appeal and has better beats" it's definitely BoA. So I choose BoA in the end because, I really thought it would suck initially. After I listened to it just blew my mind out of the water. Eat you up did not bring it justice. xD

BoA is a more powerful album in my opinioin.

I like the snippets I've heard from Come Back to me and Mr Lawrence but it's not comparable to the energy in BoA.

BoA has more danceable tracks and feels like it had more effort put into it than TITO.

Utada's album was pretty good considering Exodus but I'm sorry, BoA wins this hands down.

BoA:
Spoiler:

Pros:
Seems to have more time behind it

Heavier promotion

DEFINITELY better packaging (Which crackhead designed Utada's cover?)

A bit more consistent with the current trend in U.S music

very marketable (question now is to who really...)

Cons:
Album title is a bit...blah....BoA....ok to the American consumer...."who the heck is BoA???"

I will never see past the Engrish

It doesnt seem like BoA had any part in the production of the album other than singing

the songs....

The songs are very cliche....and done...been there done that...it sounds like wannabe
Britney Spears

Too many effects covering up her voice x_x her voice has been altered so much it actually sounds like a synthisized voice @ times.

I cant remember a single track except Eat You Up (The lead single) They all sound the same
------------------------------------------------
The cons on this one really outweigh the pros. In this case, I'll buy a copy for BoA's sake in the U.S....but honestly, her english music, though a bit lacking in pronounciation, would sound much better with a natrual voice. She can make better music than this.

Utada:
Spoiler:

Pros:
Every song is unique and reflects a different side of her personality in this album

Lead single is a very easy to get into R&B ballad

Ever track shows off her vocal abilities....her voice in all the ballads especially has a
very organic beauty to it

Lyrically its genius. The lyrics actually have meaning to them, hidden or upfront and in your face

Grown up feel compared the atrocity of Exodus...sex is important but shouldnt be the whole song. This time its very subtle and flows with the story of the song

Cons:
Ok....lets start with the most obvious offense....what the hell is up with that cover. Its a very very beautiful shot of her....words, though plain are not all that bad....but it just doesnt show great....iunno...workmanship(?) to use the same cover for 2 releases.

Utada, are you ever gonna promote your album in the U.S? A little listening party at Sephora doesnt really cut it if nobody knows who the heck you are

The lyrics of her songs are very....abstract....not common to the U.S market.
------------------------------------------------
I already preordered both versions of the album. It is defnitely something new away from all the same old same old of current American music. Hopefully, her promotion team pulls itself together because she's almost there. The album is amazing but it doesnt really matter if no one cares.

I voted for This Is The One...lyrically unique, musically palatable, this is the one I see reaching the ears of U.S listeners and critics and actually making an impact in the industry....of course, from the Asian market point of view this Album really sucks and I doubt the Japanese audience is actually buying the album for the music...

I picked this is the one. I just like the style. Its laid back nice and relaxing. the album is just very nicely done IMO. Even ifshe doesn't become a commercial success I still think this album was worth making.

I think BoA's music is more mainstream, but i can't get into it... it just sounds like britney songs that I don't like. I also agree with xheartstation that the tracks really don't seem unique and sound the same.

I'm not sure I think my opinions might be HIGHLY bias due to the fact Lady Gaga's The Fame album was an electronic pop dance album and it was just amazing and I finally bought blackout by britney and it was Really good too. I just cant find BoA's songs on this level : (

This Is The One

BoA is too dancey and badly generic. I was really hoping for something good to come from her but she failed to deliver that goods.

BoA

With BoA I really like her english music, but don't really care for her japanese or korean music. And with Utada, I like her japanese music, but don't really care for her english music..

This Is the One for sure. I mean, don't get me wrong BoA's is a great album, but I'm a huge R&B fan, especially the pop-infused stuff on TItO. Seriously, this album is like tailor-made for me, but BoA's is very good too. My biggest problem with it is that the songs all sound too similar to each other but still i like them. StarGate can't make a song that I don't like... seriously.

BTW, BoA's kinda succeeded by reaching #20 on the iTunes Top 100 Albums chart... maybe a top 100 debut on the Billboard 200 on Thursday?

THIS IS THE ONE. THIS IS THE ONE. THIS IS THE ONE.

There were like three or four good songs on BoA and the whole album sounded the same. I was so disappointed with it. This Is The One, on the other hand, blew me away. Way to go mainstream and still make great music, Hikki!
