I mean, they had collaborations for a while, where Ayu wore their clothes and some dancers did as well, but I think that ended in early 2004. She also had a collaboration with PUMA before MTRLG and TEAM MESSAGE.

I don't know if any other artist does it, but Ayu tends to commission certain brands to make her goods, like ASHxDIAMONDS or TEAM MESSAGE.
It seemed like she had a really long relationship with MTRLG [from 2001-2004] but I think her affilation with TEAM MESSAGE has lasted a while longer.. Usually she has some sort of trademark on the shirts like MTRLA[yu] with the A symbol or TeamMess[A]ge or [A]SHxDIAMONDS. XD She also tends to have her own personal encore shirt covered in diamonds. XD

Some people say that MTRLG (and MTRLB) brand clothing basically stopped being popular once Ayu stopped endorsing them. I think even a lot of Japanese fans thought it was her line and bought the clothes because she was involved. But once it was clear that she wasn't, sales declined.
I haven't seen anything regarding why the brand name changed (maybe there was a legal issue). |

Ohhh wow I thought it was HER line too... A lot of people swore up and down that it was. I had no idea TEAM MESSAGE was the name of a clothing line! I thought that's what she called the talking segment of her concerts!! Like, her team was getting out a "message" to the audience.... >_< Not that weird I guess when her fangroup is called TEAM AYU.... Right?

Everything comes to an end at some point... I never assumed AYU "owned" mtrlg/mtrlb.... but i shuuuure as heck love the name and the concept that was behind it (obviously)~
MTRL**** happens. I'm glad I grabbed some stuff while it still said MTRL_ on it... because honestly HEAVENARK sounds pretty cheesy, and their website looks like it too...

That blurb is about Toyoda Natsuki (allegedly the friend of Ayu's who passed away). It just says that this woman was part of the staff/was a buyer for the Shibuya 109 Material Girl store, and was involved for other clothing lines as well.
