^ I'd say it's sales that matter, not so much chart rankings. It's sales that keep the artist going, after all. Bye Bye sold 17,485 copies in the first week, and that was a recut single. Kurage Nagareboshi sold 34,118 copies in the first week.

Today, Zokkondition/Lucky Star charted at 5, with 3rd place selling 3561 copies.

I'd be more inclined to feel for this single if there was a B-side included in it, making a total of 5 songs. I just didn't really feel either of the songs. LUCKY STAR grew on me a tiny bit, but I gave up with Zokkondition after the first listen.

As for crazy!Ai, I really like that kind of Ai best.

The crazier she is, the better. But I don't feel it's influencing her music like it should. Her appearance has become incredibly interesting and entertaining, but her music is as lackluster as ever.

I don't think her music is as creative as it usually is. It's all starting to sound the same.

I was expecting the single to flop too. :| It's not really an interesting release tbh. LUCKY STAR has been out for forever now, and zokkondition wasn't really much to get excited about. Still though, 12,000 isn't sooo bad in the grand scheme of things.

she needs to release a kick-ass song like Kingyo Hanabi or something like PEACH/CHU-LIP/Sakuranbo... that "it" thing that used to be in her.

I can't play the single for more than 3 times before I get bored with it...

Such a pity it's flopping. Personally I loved this single.

And about her ~tru image~. She makes the biggest number of fans by releases in style like Sakuranbo or SMILY... I want her to comeback with this happy, but normal/not very crazy, charming concept. Epic ballad like kingyo hanabi/planetarium/daisuki da yo/renai shashin would be nice too.

true it's still top 10 at the end of the day

I think sales could & would have been better if both songs weren't released digitally so while back ago to begin with

Even below NEWS!!? Ugh... What a shame - especially when last week she was unexpectedly sick and had to cancel media appearances that happened around the release date...

Is her career actually in a downward spiral trend? Or something just came wrong???

NEWS's Sakura Girl was released a week before hers

so you shouldn't compare with her in this aspect . If both singles were released on the same week then it's different

things already went downhill for her since Pocket onwards

since that's her 1st single not to cross 100K

PEACH sold about 160 k right? and few months later her single with three new songs sells only 60k? i wonder why, especially when Pocket wasn't even a bad good, a good one i think...
then her two next releases sold 45 k and then Bye Bye, which was already released on LOVE LETTER and even it sold 20 k.

even when you compare the sales difference between LOVE COOK & LOVE PiECE , it's quite a big drop

maybe people are already tired of her or something ? I don't know , I don't have the answer on why things are so 'bad' for her now

I guess it is that people are already tired of her. The Japanese can be pretty fickle when it comes to things like these. Mr. Children has done the exact same thing for almost 20 years now but they're still at the top. Not that I'm comparing the two directly, but still.

Her drops are as big as BoA's. I really hope her next album doesn't tank like Identity did ...

Yeah, don't know why - seems like they like her for a few years, then they just throw away - not something like above (Mr. Children), Ayu or even ikimono-gakari...
