Woah woah no no la la?

Wanted to be a little creative with the title....anyways.
I noticed this with Ayumi's songs a while ago. She's the only artist I know that fills her songs with empty singing so often. Half of her songs are filled with "woah woah woah woah" "no no no no no no" and "lalalalala". Can she not come up with something else to put there or at least not sing during those parts? I feel like she ran out of lyrics or something. I don't mind if she does it for a few songs, but the fact that almost every album has a few of those songs where she just fills in space with empty singing kinda annoys me. Could someone enlighten me as to why she does this so frequently?

Maybe I'm just looking into this a little too much.

"wow yeah wow yeah" - evolution
"la la la la la la la la la la la" - MY ALL
"no no no" - Sparkle
"wow wow wow wow oh no no no no" - STEP you
"dala dala dala" - EnergizE

i actually really like them, i mean for the start of moments, if she doesn't do anything, then it just feels like a long intro~

and 3 no's isn't that many anyways XD

I like them when they feel natural.... like where she's conveying emotion without words. Being that I listen mostly to music whose language I don't understand, these don't bother me at all

But when she sounds like she's forcing out the la la la's or whatever (like in newer versions of "Who..." - I felt the original's "lala"s and "aah"s were VERY effective, but every re-recording or live performance since 2001 has had them feel forced), well then I don't buy it and I don't like it.

As for when they're actual words like "yeah" and "no," I think they're fine. They're good confirmations & strong denials. They get kinda repetitive at times (like "Sparkle"'s "no no no"), but if the song surrounding them is really good, I overlook it very easily.

I love those parts of her songs. There's nothing wrong with it, in my opinion.

Ad-libbing is used in most songs. It's just a nice way to show off a singers voice and make the song flow better.

I like the part in "Teens" when she sings:

"I want to be a sweet angel, la la la la..." (and then more la's after that)

Well, its using voice as instrument without lyrics, so you can completely concentrate on the voice, it sometimes fits perfectly, the beginning of Moments is HEAVEN(xD), I think if she sang lyrics instead of la lalalalala..... it would have been a little weird, same with is this LOVE?(wooooooow yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah....sounds better than lyrics for that part of the song i think) and so many other songs, it only sucks in girlish^^

I did only notice it when a friend said it. And truly, she fills it with a lot of "voice sounds". But well, I don't think about it ^^

She's definitely not the only artist who fills her songs with empty words. Many pop artists do that actually. If well used, I think these elements can make the whole musical sound interesting. I once saw a music critic complaining that the empty words were ridiculous and showed amateurism. I personally think as a critic, he was the amateur professional, and needed to (re)learn what music is about.

^ Thats the same I sometimes think when reading critics as well, I mean: instruments NEVER use words, and nobody complains about that xD The voice is an instrument as well after all, so why shouldnt it make the "pure" form of music, without language and understandable for all people?

There is a lot of music critics that doens't really know much about music... Can't sing, don't play any instrument, never studied music...
