Well I think Ayu has alwayz stayed popular but recently it has risen up even more just lyk when M came out. MY STORY has a different style compared to past songs which shows how Ayu has changed and decided to create something new for us fans. Ayu has put in lots of effort since 2003 when Memorial Address came out. The pics ive seen so far for the 05 tour was amazing, clothes, stage etc... It seems she has decided to work hard and be 1st in japan. I feel really glad that she has decided not to retire yet coz i still have not seen her live yet. From the sales i can see that she's making lots of progress.

True indeed. 2005 shows signs of being an excellent year. With STEP you being quite a successful single, in fact it's #1 as we speak and My Story Classical being a rather gorgeous album I must say I have high hopes for this year.

I have not yet seen the tour but from the previews and images it seems a rather spectacular live.

Also I've noticed how Oricon has been giving her a lot of coverage in articles for her last single and her tour.

Ayu is far from retiring and I'm afraid those who have been wanting her to retire will have to wait - a lot since Ayu has no intention to retire for now.

I think she's starting to be come a has been :S

just not doing anything refreshing with her singles. They're becoming bland and don't stand out.

Ayu's always been her ownself to me. She's like the Madonna or Janet Jackson of Japan; she does whatever she wants. Whether it be a powerful ballad full of intense emotions straight from the heart, or an angsty rock song that confesses what she's going through at the moment.

When it comes down to ANY music industry since 1999, we've seen a lot of fakery (when it comes down to who they are as a person) & a lot of deciet (as far as vocal talent)...But when you look at Ayu's career, you see a person who's grown and evolved over the passage of time. With her changes in style, she's managed to pull in more of a widespread fanbase. People from all over the WORLD, not just Japan can listen to her music and feel as if this song (or this album) is about "them". This is what makes her so attractive. It's not the pretty make-up and the great fashion sense that draws people to her. It's what she has to say that makes her one of the greatest musical artists (in my op.) in the world.

As far as 2005...this'll be one of her best years and the beginning of more to come!

hmmm..don't see much of a difference tjis year from past years other than:

-It's nice to know that she's not putting her efforts into TV-shows like ayu-ready? anymore. Those were a waste of time in my opinion.
-I don't see people commenting on this but her voice is getting a lot better when singing the verses of the songs. It sounds cleaner and more powerful, just listen to the verses of "Liar", "walking proud", "is this LOVE?".

i'm agree with AYurendy
2005 ayu will rise again
let see some prove here
without many advertisment and tv performances, STEP you can gain a huge success and stand still at number 1 oricon charts
and then her latest tour becoming a spectacular concert and everybody want to watch it
and she can be a soundtrack for shinobi the movie
it's really cool to see some prove that 2005 is ayu year again

p.s (ayurendy dari indonesia kan? kenalan yu)

For me, she's been stagnating except for some moderately bright moments. I think she's bowing too much to public tastes. If she's supposed to be an artist as you people always seem to describe her, she shouldn't tie herself to the same format all the time.

Hm! But Ayumi Hamasaki has always been changing styles to improve herself! That's why she is able to maintain and still be so popular after so many years! If her music is really dull and the packaging lousy, nobody will bother to go and buy..

I got a feeling that ayu's single will be soon knocked of no 1 rank as ORANGE RANGE will release a new single this month
