On the other hand, wouldn't it be nice to see artists get those numbers without multiple versions, first-press bonuses etc.? I'm not critizing. But it could be a weird feeling for an artist.

I'm listening to the "Sankaku Kouen" version right now and the only difference I hear is the talking part, like I already wrote. "Tanaka-san" version is about someone called Tanaka-san, Shibutani plays him in the song (they should have asked Koki x3), and "Sankaku Kouen" seems to be about a park (park is "kouen" in Japanese).

yeah. it would be nice but, i'm noticing that only a few (mainstream) artists have only 1 press of a single nowadays. not only JE, but avex and other labels are getting into releasing multiple versions. whether it be with a DVD or first press ordeal. i think JE takes the cake with multiple versions though. xD

i often wonder what JE sales would look like w/o the extra material. i think they would be much lower for sure.

Yeah, especially since the single sales now aren't what they used to be around, say, 2000. Less people are buying physical singles, so labels release things with them that make them more attractive to buy.
