welcome to the official KANJANI8 tread!
KANJANI8 is an eight-man group under Johnny's & Associates and all members hail from the Kansai region of Japan. their name derives from KANSAI + JYANNI (JOHNNY) + 8 = KANJANI8. their releases are a modern take on enka, but they have a diverse range of styles. they're also known for the comedic skits both on TV & tours. trust me, they're HILARIOUS.

丸山隆平
Maruyama Ryuhei

- Maru is currently 23.
- He is K8's bassist!
- he has an obsession with the words "PAAAAAN~" & "TEXAS~". LOL.
- He is a facial gymnastics master, a.k.a. he can do incredible impressions w/ his face.
- I LOVE YOU SO MUCH TO YOU.
- His trademark K8 color is ORANGE.

村上信五
Murakami Shingo (a.k.a. Hina)

- Hina is currently 25.
- He talks a lot. A LOT.
- Likes to hit the other members on the head if they're being dumb. XD
- HE IS A JAPANESE AIDORU (idol). plz see this to understand.
- His trademark K8 color is PURPLE.

錦戸亮
Nishikido Ryo

- Ryo is currently 23.
- He juggles a life between K8 & another JE unit, NEWS, b/c he is in both groups!
- Known for his rather sharp tongue.
- He has a nickname around JE fans & it is: Sexy Osaka Man. i call him Sexy Psycho.
- PLZ DO NOT CONFUSE RYO NISHIKIDO WITH SOSUKE OIKAWA. RYO DOESN'T BEAT UP WOMEN. AT LEAST TO OUR KNOWLEDGE.
- His trademark K8 color is YELLOW.

大倉忠義
Ohkura Tadayoshi

- Tacchon is currently 22.
- He is K8's drummer boy!
- Known as the last member to join K8.
- He is a pervert. XD
- UM. HE IS HOT.
- His K8 trademark color is GREEN.

渋谷すばる
Shibutani Subaru

- Baru is currently 26
- He is the main vocalist of K8, known for his amazing enka-like voice!
- He has a very "dark" past and had rebelled against Johnny's Jimusho. however, JE still kept him.
- His K8 trademark color is RED.

安田章大
Yasuda Shota

- Yassu is currently 23
- He is the guitarist of K8!
- Hates it when Subaru steals his strawberries on cakes & such. XD he even cried.
- Love fashion (& Subaru)
- His K8 trademark color is BLUE.

横山裕
Yokoyama Kimitaka (a.k.a. Yokoyama Yu)

- Yoko is the oldest member at the age of 26.
- Mr. Johnny gave Yoko his name "Yu" b/c Kimitaka was hard to remember. Yoko explained it as one of Johnny-san's infamous "You!" jokes at an episode of Hey!Hey!Hey!.
- HE IS AWESOME, OK.
- His K8 trademark color is BLACK

内博貴
Uchi Hiroki

- Uchi is the youngest member at the age of 21.
- With Nishikido Ryo, he once balanced a life between NEWS & K8.
- He is no longer a part of K8/NEWS due to an underage drinking scandal that occured in 2005, however, the other members still consider him a part of this group.
- He returned to work w/ fellow ~DRUNK DIVA~ Kusano Hironori in a musical for their sempais Shounentai (PLAYZONE 2007「Change2Chance」) in 2007.
- He appears in magazines now! (as a Johnny's Junior )
- His trademark K8 color is PINK. PINK IS SO FIERCE.

How do you rebel against Johnny-san? He's not really apart of JE anymore is he? Doesn't his sister or something run it?

^I think that's what she means. I read somewhere, too, that Johnny's sister took over the jimusho.

Yeah, her name's like Mary or something. Johnny's maaaaad old so it's understandable that he's not really in charge anymore.

I believe Subaru went into depression during the last couple of years of his "Johnny's Junior" days. He got a tattoo (which is a taboo) on his wrist of a skull (i think he got it removed now) and he starred in a controversial j-drama (or j-movie, i forget. XD) called "Platonic Sex". it was a very un-Johnny like role, so to say.

however, Johnny's Jimusho didn't fire him. I believe it was because Johnny-san really believed in Subaru and thought he was really talented. I've read that K8 is his favorite group right now (like, he was with Uchi when he made a guest appearance during their "47" tour.)

Mary Kitagawa & Julie (Mary's daughter) run JE now. so, i think all of the recent decisions to not let Kusano / Uchi back into their respected groups was on their actions, not Johnny.

^Thanks for the information. Doesn't he still has the tattoo though? I read on wiki that Shibutani wears gloves and shirts with long sleeves to cover it up.

So "Julie K." is Johnny's niece, huh? I thought she must be related to him somehow. xD

I've never really listened to K8, I've only heard a couple songs on like imeem and stuff. So what're you guy's top K8 songs? When I first heard of their enka style, I was a little scared to listen. But it seems like a lot of people like them. And Ryo's in it.

At first, I didn't like K8 at all. Found their songs were weird and sounded
funny. Didn't really like their enka style. The first song I heard from them
was their debut song, Naniwa Iroha Bushi. I saw the PV and couldn't stand it.
Until I watched Dreamboys 2006 where they performed some of the songs, I
started to like their songs, especially Osaka Rainy Blues, Oh! Enka, Sukiyanen Osaka.
Then I started to follow up their releases from Kanfuu Fighting.

So my fav K8 song is Osaka Rainy Blues. It's the song which brought
me into K8! =)

Ohh.. I also didn't know Johnny-san and his family are half-American.
