Wow. Yea, no offense, but I'd think Namie's mom would be a bit more glamorous. And...skinnier, I guess, since Namie herself is a stick...

She was half-Japanese/half-Italian.

I don't think she had to be more glamorous. Namie and her mother were different, each one with their own style... It's good. She seemed a tender mom.

And definitely, she had got strong western features...

Hm is it true she got murdered by her brother? I heard it somewhere in the newspaper along time ago.....They look alike.

I feel bad for Namie.

It feels sad to look at her pic and know she was a victim of a criminal act. She does have a lot of features that resemble namie.

I look at her and think about Namie's comment, "I thought about quitting, but I remembered how proud my mom always was when she saw me on TV, so I knew I had to keep doing it for her." or something really similar. She reminds me of my mom, so this REALLY hits home.

And yes, she definitely has the western features. At first glance I would think she was caucasian.

Namie does resemble her mother in a lot of ways.
I don't know how someone's own flesh and blood could ever kill their birth mother. I just .. do they even have a concience?!?!? (sp?)

Ya know, .. I don't think body shape has anything to do with Namie being thin.. she just grew up in Japan with the Japanese diet, no? Well, not everyone has a fast metabolism their whole life..

It is really disheartning. imagine how Namie still feels to this day. but her music is still kick ass!!! and she never stopped she has endured the greatest pain of all but she came back and is continuing to climb the charts!!! so i am proud to call myself a fan of hers!!!

I see it in the eyes, nose, lips, skin tone, facial structure.

It is sad but I like what Namie's tattoo says about her mother. I can't remember it clearly but its something like "my mother's love will live forever in me" or something like that >.<

Its kinda hard to believe people don't see that Namie isn't full Japanese o.O

She looks like a very loving mother. It's really sad how she died - this shouldn't happen to anyone, least of all Namuro.

It's actually quite obvious, but not a lot of people can notice it.
One of my friends from Japan thought she was full blooded Japanese until I told her. I don't think she believes me :P But what an interesting combination.. Italian and Japanese. Namie's mother pulls a lot of Italian looks.

I agree with you. Though I don't think she looks too Caucasian in my opinion. I see Namie in her definetly, and so I think her mother is beautiful in her own way. She seems like the lovable mom like Namie describes her.

Wow.. Namie really looks like her mom, all the same facial features.. ahhh I'm getting so sad looking at her picture!! Poor woman and poor Namie ;.; I've never seen a picture of her mom until now, but I figured her mom must look really Caucasian because Namie has these features as well. When I saw lots of pictures of Namie, I knew she wasn't 100% Japanese~

Why did her brother kill his own mom!? That's what I want to know.
And her mom looks so friendly. You can definetly see how much she looks like her mom.

Emiko Taira was killed by her brother-in-law, not her son. Apparently this individual also tried to kill his brother (Namie's step-father). The guy committed suicide afterwards. As I recall it was a family dispute.

and i believe it happened right before a new song or commercial was to debut (we're talking HOURS before). RIP.

As nmskalmn said, it was her brother-in-law that killed her (with a pipe and then ran over her with a car I might add). I heard it was because she didn't approve of his girlfriend and he blamed her for causing their break up.

And it was before the release of RESPECT the POWER OF LOVE.
How ironic.

but after she got really successful and popular..there's more and more rumour on tabloids that she's not 100% asian

and later she admitted she's mixed

Namie is beast!!! LOL no other artist is hip as she is and she is trendsetting again her and ayumi are two of the best japan has to offer other than Gackt i kept telling u guys she is fluent in english but for some reason she hates to speak it?

Gackt can understand English but his English is err .. same with Namie? I could see that her mom understands English, seeing that she's half Italian..
Sometimes, when Japanese artists have English in their songs, I mistake it for Japanese .. 'cos it doesn't even sound English .. it's the accent probably :laugh

Most Japanese can understand a little Japanese but are not taught to speak it, so I see why they do not like to speak English.
