Hey guys, so I've been out of the loop for a while now.. and I'm wondering how Ayu's English is coming along. Are there any clips of her speaking it recently? I haven't heard her English since around 2006 or so.. I remember she was doing pretty well.. 4 years is a long time, I wonder how much she progressed..

We just have (recorded) the making of Microphone, I think.. but she doesn't say a lot in english...

Maybe a fan-clip from London? I was there so I can say that her english was... mmm how to say it... in that interview for CNN she kind of memorised what to say... an now she sounded more fluent with it and more natural with it...

written her english is great, even though sometimes with long sentences she kind of messes it a bit hahaha but she is great and uses many shortened words! I mean, she knows how to do it "u, r, n, 2, 4, wanna, gonna, reli" XDDD

I thought she would, because I remember seeing some behind the scenes footage in one of the Arena tours, I can't remember which, and she sounded pretty natural.. has she done any more interviews in English? Or anything like that? I really wish I could hear her speak it

her english for me has always been pretty good but now I think she's more fluent.
I think her bodyguard speaking english to her helps her alot.

^sadly, nope~ I think you can just find videos recorded in London to hear Ayu speak in english a but (sorry I edited my other post before I saw you quoted it hahaha)

For what we know, she always tries to speak in english with Stan-chan =) so that may be the reason why she keep practising it ^^

Even though, it has been just from the twitter experience that japanese fans realized she is good with english ^^

Does she still take a lot of trips to English speaking places, like the U.S. ? I remember she always used to go to NYC, LA, & Hawaii.. a lot

she went to london and some ahs fans met her and for what we can see from pv makings she spoke english to them.

asking what are their names and you saw the directors speaking english to ayu and she understood

I think she must be pretty good, she mentioned in her TA diary that she was translating English fortune cookies into Japanese for her staff in HK.

I favorite most of her English tweets, she's really not bad except for a couple words sometimes, but you can understand what she's saying. Bolded are her replies~

yep she talked to us a lot: "oh, you came today? From where?" "your hands are sooo cold, please go to a warm place!" "do you want me to sign here?" things like that ^^

^ I remember the people from the London experience saying about her sweet english words, and her concerns for the fans; even now reminding me of what she said "your hands are sooo cold, please go to a warm place!" makes my eyes sting! What a beautiful person she is!

^The comment about the hands really touched me. It's such a genuinely sweet thing to say and the person she said it to must've been so surprised that she even noticed. I probably would've melted right there, lol.

I think she has great English :heart I think she's really been motivated to learn English well because of her oversea fans :3 She is the sweetest thing, no? :heart

I loved in the making of Microphone PV when she said, "Why you do that? Why do you do that?" Gah it made me laugh so hard :roflmao

And when she noticed the hands of the fans in London were cold and to go somewhere warm, I choked bacl tears...She is so sweet omg :weep

I don't know if this helps. but someone made an audio compilation of all her english comments during the MCs of her '08 tour.

I think her understanding of English is really good, and she can communicate it pretty well too (especially in writing), but she has a fairly thick accent. She is better than she was though, for sure.

Sadly, I have to repeat her english voice in youtube over and over again to understand her english.. her pronunciation is a bit "over", imo...

But I do love her when she speaks English. I hope she'll use it more often in other making off pv >.<
