[ABSOLUTELY URGENT] Question about iTunes
Hey everyone.
So, I turned on my comp 2day and opened iTunes (per the norm). I have a near 100GB iTunes library. My iTunes library (with this amount) was damaged. I got left with an old library with 5GB. I refilled this to about 58GB. I went out for the day, turned on iTunes again (same problem), and this time, I got left with 268MB. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON? If I could please have an answer from you tech-savvy users, please, this is urgent. For the time being, I am using Windows Media Player. |
What version of iTunes do you have? You may have to just reinstall iTunes.
|
^ Reinstalled iTunes (10), still only have 251.6MB
|
Check if your hard drive got damaged?

^ All my music is still on my harddrive.
I keep on re-enterting the music into iTunes, but when I reopen iTunes it is missing X_X |

Have you tried changing a filename to make a previous iTunes Library the current one? (link) If that doesn't work, I suggest doing Windows System Restore to a recent restore point, when your library was still behaving, and then restocking your library manually, or changing the filename again as advised in the above link. I hope you don't have a virus or something serious like that!! >_< |
Sounds like a virus, could be a VERY evil one, let Antivir and Antimalware programs check your computer(for free ones try Avira Antivir and Malwarebytes Antimalware)

^ Wierd. I think iTunes was corrupt or something ?_?
I uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes 10, and had the same amount. Added Hello! Project music to the rest to bring it up to 14GB. I turned off the computer, slept, went back on just now and all the H!P music is STILL THERE. I think that iTunes was corrupt, when I deleted and reinstalled I got rid of the corrupt-ness, so all files are still here! And also, I have a daily scan from AVG 2011, no viruses here! |
maybe it's just the media library preferences problem?
go to preferences -> advanced -> uncheck "Keep iTunes media folder organized" & "Copy files to Itunes media folder when adding to library" |
