(Surprised no one posted this!) Ayu was feautured in V magazine's Asian issue.

This is awesome........but - don't get me wrong I am a huge GaGa fan - I don't really think it's appropriate for GaGa to be featured on the magazine (or for her to be the only artist making headlines every time you search MTV VMAJ 2011 in google). I know she loves Japan, and I think it's really amazing of her to be making efforts to help Japan, but she shouldn't be featured over local artists and such.

Anyway, it's so exciting that they featured Ayu. I feel like no one really explores the Asian music scene (besides the American fans on this board) in America, so it's amazing that they chose to do an article on her.

Were any other J-Pop or K-Pop artists featured in the magazine?

but what was the point of featuring Ayu this time? there's no reference to any news,actually, just a short bio. (even if they were positive comments)
But I understand they chose Gaga for the cover: those pics are pricey, and if you look at the cover, it says "interview by Elthon John", another reason to be featured on the cover.

If I remember correctly, this was the issue where Lady GaGa made her debut as a regular columnist, so I assume that's why she's on the cover. I agree they should have timed it better and put an actual Asian artist/model on the cover of "The Asian Issue."

lol I didn't even notice it wasn't a Japanese copy. I wonder if there was a copyright issue with getting Japanese edition or if the editors just didn't know any better?

Definitely could have chosen a more couture shoot. Western coverage seems to go out of its way to choose old photos that look ~foreign to its readers ("heyheyhey look how ~weird the pop stars are over there!!").
