I don't think any of these are mind-blowing creations that should receive titles such as "anything of the year", but for the sake of talent, I hope the ones who do win will be the ones who have written their own material.

^ I agree with you. I actually don't know half of these things, but Grenade and Firework rllllly nao?
I don't agree with any of the Bruno Mars nominations, even though I love his voice and his face and his stage name. His album was chock full of filler and there are only 10 tracks on it to begin with. >_> Still, I guess I'll root for him, since I like him more than anyone else on this list. What's the difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year? I'm guessing Record is for the finished product and Song is for the composition and lyrics? |
Record of the Year is for the nature of the recording--production and sound, overall. Song of the Year is strictly for lyrics and melody.
As for the nominees, I'm a bit surprised at all the nods to Bruno Mars, yes, but I guess it was just a matter of good timing. I doubt he'll win any of the Big Three and it seems as if the 54th GRAMMY Awards Ceremony is shaping up to be The Adele Show. But, all the other nominees considered, I wouldn't mind that so much. I'm thinking I might be down for Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons, but Katy Perry is a total waste of a nomination, in my opinion. Also, I really enjoy Gaga for the most part, but Born This Way has no business being nominated for Album of the Year. The single itself probably deserved a Record of the Year nomination, since the production for that record was phenomenal. Song of the Year would be blasphemous since the lyrics to that song are atrocious. But the sound? Totally worth a Record of the Year nod. The album as a whole? Too eclectic and unoriginal in sound/lyrically cliche in comparison with its predecessor, The Fame Monster, to be equated with an Album of the Year nomination. |
If Skrillex wins anything I will promptly be destroying my TV in a fit of rage.

I have a feeling that Adele will win everything. Although I don't really listen to her music, she is a decent singer. I'll just wait for the winners to be announced the next day in the news. Don't think I'll be watching this one. Now if for some strange reason some of my fav international artists were performing or nominated, then I might actually watch.

Also, I have nothing against Katy, but Firework has the world's cheesiest lyrics. |
^ew whenever I listen to that song I feel my brain cells dying.
I think Adele will probably get album of the year...I hope Nicki Minaj gets artist of the year...just cause :shrug lol idk I like Grenade...but I don't know if it really warrants all these nominations... his voice is :luv2 though yeah. I do hope they don't give everything to Adele though... I mean, she's good... but, idk I think she needs to be better to warrant all wins. |
aw @ J cole for being nominated. Im so proud.
|
21 is really, really boring to listen to minus the single songs + Turning Tables & Set Fire to the Rain. I honestly only remember those 5 songs and nothing else. Just too unmemorable of an album if you tell me. Which is a shame because I like her voice. Same with 19. I only remember Chasing Pavements, Cold Shoulder, and Hometown Glory. I literally cannot remember the rest of the entire album because it's just filler lol. But Adele should get artist of the year ngl

WHERE IS "MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY" FOR ALBUM OF THE YEAR?
that's my only complaint. :laugh oh, and Bon Iver for Best New Artist...really now? no one who nominated these things has heard of "Skinny Love" before? |
I think everything about Bruno Mars screams trying too hard. His album's title is so lame, I really don't like him lol.
Nicki should get best new artist... I don't care about the other categories haha. |

I only hope Firework will win the record of the year

^I kind of like that song but it's so incredibly cheesy.
I mean, the first line is "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag". |
