Ayu ranked 42 in HMV Japan's Top 100 Jpop Artists
That's great~ I know it's difficult to be just ranked in there but yeh, still, I wish Ayu would've been higher ranked, say in the 20's or something. ^^;;
boo~ >.<
ummmm...why 40's.... who was rank 1:curse
Yea.. why is it 40th rank!? it should be no 1... maybe it is going upward
Calm down everyone I think some of you have a too high expectation for ayu... -_- Those artists ranked within top 20 were from 1970's-1980's and their popularities and impacts were a lot more impressive during that time than the 1990's and recent ones.
yep, gotta love the 80's... guess that goes for all countries ^_^ Still Ayu is the best now :)
hikki still made it to 24 tho...
and shiina was higher than ayu as well |
Shena Ringo deserves her hgher rank as her music still remains is one of its kind. Hikki, I don't know, well she still holds the record for best selling Jpop album of all time. But if you want quantity, Ayu's could easily bury Hikki with all her stuff.
i guess is something like....music station count down... last time ayumi got in 4 or 3 place while hikki got around 14
Well, I think it goes by different standards. Perhaps they judge by CD sales or survey on their popularity. Still, it's cheers for Ayu for getting in!
i guess itz their impact on society...those artists high up like momoe yamaguchi and sakamoto kyu are one of a kind, with huge impact in the society years after their resignation or death...i guess ayu just isn't at that point that
hikki and shiina ringo have their own uniqueness in the jpop industry, especially, consider the impact she has on the whole jpop industry that suddenly everyone is interested in R&B after the release of her first album.... |
She should be first....
haha..this year wasnt exactly "spectacular" ..:shrug
at least she's in teh top 50 right? :laugh |
i guess this isn't a yearly thing....look at how the top artists are from the 80's and 70's...i guess they are lookin at a period overall :)

In the first half of the 90s
15. Flippers Guitar 19. Blue Hearts 28. Kazumasa Oda 37. Toshinobu Kubota 40. X Japan 43. Cornelius 45. Dreams Come True 60. Tatsuya Ishii 70. Tomoyasu Hotei 71. Tokyo Ska Paradaise Orchestra 72. Lisa Ono 73. Blankey Jet City 79. Kenji Ozawa 83. Fishmans 84. Noriyuki Makihara 89. Original Love 90. Luna Sea 100. Begin In the second half of the 90s 12. Keisuke Kuwata 21. Tetsuya Komuro 27. Mr Children 29. Spitz 30. B'z 31. Pizzicato Five 36. Ringo Shiina 51. Misia 53. Namie Amuro 58. L'Arc`en`Ciel 62. Chage & Aska 63. Dragon Ash 64. Hi-standard 65. Glay 69. Smap 77. Ken Hirai 87. Rip Slyme 95. Mondo Grosso This is time which they mainly played an active part. Utada is most younger in 100 Ayu is the second youngest in 100. This ranking shows the influence has given to Japanese music. So this doesn't always show popularity and sells power. Supposing we consider the influence to overseas, a different result will be brought. |
hm...slightly dissapointed...but still happy:)
Thx for the info.. Who's no.1 though?
alright! the pizzicato five are in there. they rule. i soooo wish ayu was ranked higher. that sucks. shiina ringo and hikki are awesome.
