CDL 02-03 questions

Hi! I've just re-watched this concert and I have a few questions hope you can help me with :)

Question 1!

After TRF medley and happy new your countdown ayu does an MC and I tried to figure what she said I believe it was "If there was an error here it was my fault, please forgive me!"

So my question of course is, which was the error? :shakehead I noticed in some parts TRF's YU-KI is not sure of which part of the song she should sing along, but as for ayu I didn't noticed her mistake...

Question 2!

So... what happened to ayu's voice in this concert? She sounds like sick or something, she certainly can't hit certain notes, it's very noticeable in Voyage performance particularly she sings "bokutachi wa shia(wa)se ni naru tame" (she can't sing the "wa" part and she also keep skipping this tone through the whole song)

She was sick from what I know.
Don't know about the "error", though.

She was sick; I believe with the flu at the time. The error she was referring to was during Everywhere Nowhere. Her mic stopped working and she had to run off stage and you can briefly hear her get mad at the staff. I think that got edited out in the DVD version and the cameras just focus on the dancers.

I think her illness is why that CDL was never released outside of being a bonus disc for that box set.

visionfactory 27th July 2017 09:19 AM

^Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, anyway for me the concert is very precious as I think it's very different from anything she have done even until now. I appreciate they released it anyway.

Thanks everybody for the replies!
Didn't noticed everywhere nowhere mistake! Thanks ^_^

The mistake is only noticeable in the TV version. :)

But yeah, I agree with you about the concert itself. It's weird, but her being sick worked for me. lol

pedronekoi 27th July 2017 05:22 PM

Yeah! She was very sick! I thinks it was one of the sickness that caused her ear deafness later :( During the whole concert you can see that she adjusts her ear piece very often...

Remember that before the concert she performed on CDTV?! And you can barely hear her voice. That women is crazy and so passionate!!!

The CDTV performance would have been after this. :) But yeah, her schedule was truly insane back then.

Her new years eve schedule back then was: Japan Record Awards (where she performed twice three years in a row), then Kohaku, then Countdown Live, then CDTV directly after.

Her ear deafness started way back in her very first tour; so this was more simply just throat problems going on due to being sick.

visionfactory 28th July 2017 07:46 AM

^Which song she performed at CDTV?

pedronekoi 28th July 2017 03:45 PM

Oh! I didn't knew the CDTV was after CDL! That makes more sense now lol

She sang "Independent"! :)

Didn't she perform at CDTV first and then book it over to Yoyogi? How late did the CDTV broadcast go until...?

The CDTV broadcast doesn't start until midnight (so it's not in competition with Kohaku) It lasts till like 4 in the morning.

Was it always like that? I would almost swear that I watched her perform 1 LOVE on CDTV in 2006 *before* she would have gone to Yoyogi.....hrm

Pretty sure it's always been like that. :) All the new years shows avoid Kohaku. That's also why during One Love and Step You the year before she is in her encore outfits at CDTV. :)

pedronekoi 31st July 2017 04:55 AM

I thought the same but it makes sense! She were always wearing the encore and remember that during the Arena Tour 2003-2004 she performed from the stage?

Aderianu 31st July 2017 08:25 AM

At 2010 Moon was pre-recorded for CDTV

Yep. The schedule is that Kohaku ends about 10 minutes before midnight actually, because in Japan it is tradition that people go to their local shrine right at midnight and ring the bell. Then CDTV and the Johnny's Countdown Live begin a minute or two before midnight. And CDTV runs almost all night until morning after that.

And as mentioned, Ayu also had a couple of performances in the late 2000s that were prerecorded (guess she got tired of that way too packed schedule!)

himawariii6 4th August 2017 12:56 AM

Her voice isn't the best on this CDL (by reading the comments, I know it was her flu), however I love this CDL so much. It was actually the first concert by her that I watched (on DVD, of course)
