Question About Oricon
Does anyone know how it's possible that an album is #2 on the weekly charts even though it didn't chart on the daily charts during that week?
Edit: Also, does anyone have any info about the September 18 daily chart? |
Maybe it's chart manipulation.
|
^ That's what I thought as well, but I really don't want it to be the case :(
Any other possible reasons? |
Possibly an error. Charts tend to be digital and sometime websites that show the charts may have some errors, specially the ones that are updated every 5 minutes.
|
^ Oricon is a physical chart though and it gets updated daily/weekly (depending on the specific chart), not every 5 minutes
|
I wasn't talking about releases. I was talking about the chart itself. It's displayed online, right?
|
hmm are you sure you are looking at the right chart?

^ I'm talking about this chart. BTS are #2, but when I look back at the daily charts (for example this and earlier), they weren't even on the charts at all. That's why I asked for the September 18 chart, that was the only one I missed... Thanks for the links, by the way! Looks like they didn't chart that day neither.
|
BTS released in September 22, so you can't see daily charts before that day!
Maybe since BTS is considered an imported record (輸入盤), it was hard to count daily, and they only could get final sales. Oricon has a lot of weird issues about this, that's the reason because Wednesday is set by companies as release date. |
They didn't chart on September 22, 23 and 24 neither, but the album was released on September 19 in Korea, so I thought maybe some shops were somehow able to sell it then, that's why I checked earlier charts just in case as well ^^
Hmm I guess it could be because it's imported, though it's kinda weird... So it's not necessarily chart manipulation? |
If it's the korean version I don't think it's manipulated... sales wise is low for standart bts in Japan. Maybe they count the copies one day after the weekly or something else.
