Lovely banner!

I wonder how long it will take to build the statue/memorial of her. I'd love to go back to Okinawa and see it.

I am curious what she has been doing after her retirement. Just being a mom or doing other activities?

prussian blue 29th March 2019 05:13 PM

The only think I can't forgive her in her last album was how she butchered the last line of can you celebrate.

I can SLAY-LE-BRATE?

There was something about her vacationing in London after her retirement.
It's hard to get info on her because since she's now a private citizen the press can't report on her or publish her photos. If they do, she can bring legal action against them.

The only time she sang that right was on Ballada... even tho Finally's version she does it way better than the original song.

I was planning on putting on either the Finally or 25 Anniversary tour whilst doing some housework today but decided against the Finally tour as I thought it was be a bit sad as it's The End. Then I realised I have the Nagoya disc I've still not watched - YES!!

Namie is listed as the #2 most influential Heisei-era singer!

I'm curious too! Because she's basically set for life, so I wonder what she does with all her free time lol.

She's still following music scene though. I remember she sent one of those big flower wreaths to... either BEGIN or MONGOL800, can't remember exactly who... when they had a concert.

And she was most recently (supposedly) spotted attending one of Daichi Miura's concerts back in February when he added additional dates to his tour.

But aside from that she's been living that wonderful anonymous civilian life haha.

I wonder if she'll end up returning in a number of years though. She's had so much success, especially being the only major J-Pop idol-type to peak twice, and having both more than a decade apart. I can imagine she's probably bored or exhausted with it right now, but in several years, she may be open to doing things again on a smaller scale. TBH, when she announced her retirement, I just couldn't see her ending with _genic as the last studio album. And it still just feels off for me that she'd be ending it with that sound, not something more evolved from what we heard on FEEL and Uncontrolled, especially considering how different P<F was from PLAY and QoHP.

But who knows! I'd love to see her come back if she gets bored of civilian life in the future. And chances are she'd probably have a bigger comeback than Utada did with Fantôme.

:-) Myself, I'd rather not have everything perfect, all the time. It's part of the charm.

Her "wok in the pawk" always brings a smile. And for those who've never heard it that way...now you'll never be able to unhear it. You're welcome!

mi|kshake 31st March 2019 10:42 PM

^Lol, I haven't heard it that way before but will be listening out for it!

I finished watching the Nagoya disc yesterday and I still felt a bit deflated at the end. Def feeling a bit emosh during the Finally performance. I'm really glad that How Do You Feel Now was the last performance. I feel if it were Finally then it would just leave me wanting more/unsatisfied but How Do You Feel Now was a great choice.

jiarongisme 1st April 2019 03:30 AM

I remember when I first watched the DVD, I cried so much at How do you feel now?. How do I feel now Namie? GUTTED.

AJFmzk 1st April 2019 05:30 AM

^ I was kind of upset that they put How do you feel now at the end at first, felt like Finally had the correct bitter-sweet sentiment for the end of her final tour, but I've somewhat revised my opinion, though I still think Finally would have been better tbh. It was a good decision to have everyone leave the tour on a high energy, but yeah I share the same sentiment. Gutted is a good description for sure because you feel so high and then you realize she's stopped creating and gone from public life.

jiarongisme 1st April 2019 08:06 AM

I have to say though, it was nice seeing it live. Tokyo Dome was pretty sad and sombre when she was done with Finally. Then when How do you feel now? came up again then everyone was in more of a celebratory mood.

AJFmzk 1st April 2019 12:50 PM

^ agreed. Seeing it live is what shifted my opinion. It was a good choice to have everyone leave on a high. Especially bc it’s a catchy TK song. Personally I’m a sucker for darker, more emotional songs like Finally so it would have been a sobering emotional punch to end on Finally, but I understand why they put HDYFN at the end, and yes, it even worked on me. I think I was humming it all the way home from the venue with a mixture of joy and sadness.

tokyoxjapanxfan 1st April 2019 04:02 PM

I just listened to Break It from Finally... am I the only one who thinks it’s like, terrible? :-0 i was like, what is this?! I love the original so I was just caught off guard xD

Xianghua 3rd April 2019 04:27 AM

Not that it will really affect us since haraiso already ripped it, but Hulu will be taking down the documentary on April 30th.
