What does the guy say in the beginning of the Memorial adress song?

I was wondering that...it sounds like a japanese word...anyone knows what it is and what does it mean?:shrug

gakkun 20th December 2003 11:14 AM

Yeh I was wondering bout that too....I could only make out
'-goraishimasu' at the end. :laugh

Aga-chan 20th December 2003 12:13 PM

ayumin-san wrote down the sentence in her romanization of "Memorial address" (thread here).
He says: Soredewa minasan yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

Soredewa minasan yoroshiku onegaishimasu
soredewa = so
minasan = everyone
But actually I think "yoroshiku onegaishimasu" is one of the most difficult phrase to translate into English. We often say this, for example, when we start some work with other people, when we ask someone for something or just before we hung up business phone. It means that I wish your good consideration for me (or our work).

I read about this in a Polish anime and manga magazine.
Doesn't it mean something like "Treat me well"?! :think

...

I looked it up and the person who wrote the article says that the rough meaning might be something like "Please, don't beat me".
She also wrote that it doesn't mean that one is beatten when he or she doesn't use the sentence.
It is more like "Please, care for me".

Interesting. Thanks for solving this mystery for us guys ;)

kournikova 20th December 2003 01:31 PM

waw.... looks so good.... (wanna cry remember the touching lyric of mem.address)

masa 20th December 2003 01:54 PM

"Treat me well"?!
"Please, don't beat me".
"Please, care for me".

Um, I feel they don't correspond to "yoroshiku onegai shimasu" well. It's a polite phrase mainly used in business situation. In the case of this song recording, a man told Ayumi and other band members that he wished their great performance. So what I think best is "I wish your good consideration for me (or our work)".

jiayulam 20th December 2003 02:05 PM

Yes I think I have encountered this in one of my lessons domo yokoshiku, you say that when you introduce yourself. Like in Mandarin "JING DUO DUO ZHI JIAO" Right? Would it translate to GUIDE ME in English???????

I can actually understand that...itīs like that word (forgot how to write it) people say before having a meal...it doesn't really have an equivalent on english so itīs usually not an easy thing to translate. But you made the meaning pretty clear Thanks! :thumbsup

As I said elsewhere, I thought the phrase meant:

"So it is a pleasure, everyone"

or

"And so, it's a pleasure meeting everyone"

Just my guess... :think

yoroshiku onegaishimasu is just a greeting when you meet someone new, most of the time. It's have a more complexe sense but for american it's the easier way to understand it.

I suppose it'll be explained on the take 1 version, assuming there's a take 1 version (or during Ayu's next release) :)

btw, welcome back, mimika!! It's been almost a month since I've seen you here ;) !
