Songs with good verses but a crappy chorus
 

I was listening to a song called "ready for the good times" by Shakira, and I noticed... the verses are great and snappy but the chorus is weak and lame and put me off (as well as the title haha... I love Shakira though ^^). Does anyone else know what I mean? I don't mean in that song, but any song? Do you think Ayumi has any of those, where the verses are great but then the chorus is just dissapointing?

hey i was thinking of making a thread like that today since i was listening to EXILE's new song real world and well the verses build up interestingly but when the chorus comes the song blows. terrible chorus but cool verses. Why do they let a mistake like that happen? :shrug It just spoils the whole great build up of the verses. breaks the whole climax =/

And unfortunately our dear ayu was also plagued by that too. July 1st has probably the worst chorus from all time, to annoying, she's just randomly screaming the lyrics in a desperate way but the verses are so awesome! :( Wish the song wouldn't have been spoiled by that chorus...=/

I liked the July 1st chorus...but yes, in fact I think most of Ayu's RAINBOW album tracks suffered from just that.

And I hate the chorus of 'WE WISH' -_-

Are you talking about Close to you or GAME? The repetitive description reminds me a lot more of GAME lol :yes honestly, GAME chorus is a lot more repetitive than Close to you.

hhhhhhm, x_x i never notice this stuff, if the verses sound good i tend to just like the song as a whole. i'll see if i come up with some examples.

The closest thing I could think of was Hotarubi by Dir en grey. It starts off so amazing, then Kyo sings the verses than its still amazing; then the chorus comes... dun dun dun. Its not horrible mind you, just not extremely good. The song changes during this point... If it stayed along the lines of the beginning, it'd be one hella good song.

=\ yeah the chorus could have been better on July 1st ...Hanabies wasnt that bad. I dont know of any songs with bad chorus. I genrelly find a way to like it if it is bad, so it makes the song nice.

I don't think any of Ayumi's Songs have annoying Chorus'. I love all of the chorus' in her songs. Especially in Naturally, I am..., Still Alone, Free & Easy, and July 1st.

I actually notice it the other way around - the verses are crap but the chorus gets you hooked. But I'll agree with Close to You, July 1st &WE WISH. WE WISH was teriible, &Close to You was sweet, but it just took forever to get anywhere.

Arrgh I hate that Shakira chorus, i cant help but fast worward it when the chorus comes on, errgh :no

GAME had a cool chorus. The song wouldn't've been as good if it didn't repeat that much.
Maybe you guys should listen to it when you're pissed and then you'll what I mean...:yes

WE WISH had one of the worst chorus imo...not that the verses were that great to begin with...but the chorus is just no-no to me.

I couldn't agree more with Do As Infinity's "Hiiragi". The verses sounded so promising, but the chorus was just...bleh, turned a good song into a mediocre one.

Personally, (I'm hearing disagreements already), I didn't like Hikki's "Sakura Drops" chorus at all.
