[2004] Bandnames, wth.

I got a band, well no, it's just a musical, no, sonical project. It's just noise. And well, I want to name it something. But well, I can't decide on which. It used to be All Collapsed, but I got sick of that name and got rid of it. Then I switched to Pollock, but I got bored with that one quite quickly, and renamed to Mizu. Then I found out Melt-Banana used to be called Mizu so I'm dropping Mizu too. Now I'm thinking either Shimizu or Igei. Which should I choose?

Unimatrix Prime™ 10th August 2004 06:44 PM

Shimizu is the best out of those choices, IMO :yes

(or... you can try Shizuka...dunno why, but that sounds cool to me)

JimmyKoria 10th August 2004 06:49 PM

Shimizu sounds like that one dogs name =\ you know those chinese dogs? But then again what do I know?

ayumi_pukka89 10th August 2004 07:52 PM

What does Igei mean? (I liked the sound of it so I voted for it...but I have no clue what it means. ^^;;)

LOL, well, Shimizu is the last name of a skateboarder, Daniel Shimizu. I think it sounds nice. I really like Igei too, though. Last name of a skateboarder as well :yes , John Igei. Don't know if it means anything though.

I agree with Prime, Shimizu is the best of your choises. But also Prime's selection: Shizuka is very good... You've said that your band makes a (huge) noise and shizuka means quiet, silent, still, peacefull. It would be a nice contrast...

How about "sxesven" ?

jerms 13th August 2004 03:21 PM

The Sexy 7's

sxesven 13th August 2004 05:48 PM

rofl, j00 guys rock. I love both those last two, but I think I'll keep to pretending it be something intellectual :yes Which is really isn't, but since it's noisy, you can easily convince people it's art.

Which it is.

Actually.

It's improvisation art.

But eh.

No need to get worked up about it. Like.

Uh.

I don't know.

starr5245 14th August 2004 05:41 AM

igei, mizu, both!!

FancySN 16th August 2004 04:06 AM

Why something Japanesey? Do you guys sing in Japanese? Do your songs have a Japanese feel or taste? If you want my opinion, if your band has nothing Japanesey in it...don't name it in Japanese.

Though I really can't think of anything else to name it, you should name it according to the music. Is it something like Linkin' Park-ish music?

PickleCookies 16th August 2004 05:07 AM

Name it PickleC. After me. Oh yeah. :yes

ashlee 16th August 2004 07:26 AM

how about something like: CHIzuKA, Autumn, Elephant Vanishes, Endo

sxesven 16th August 2004 07:30 AM

Honestly, how did you come up with Elephant Vanishes? That's like, brilliant. :yes

Well, there's certainly no Japanese singing involved, but then again, no singing is involved at all. There is a certain Japanese feel to it, since Japan is the #1 noise country in the world. I myself got inspired by artists such as Merzbow, Masonna, Hentaitenno, Hijokaidan, Niku-Dorei; and they're all from Japan. Furthermore, I think a name such as that just fits the music; it has something strange, distant to it, which quite resembles the 'music'.

Anyw00t, it's nothing like Linkin Park music. I'll consider uploading something, but be prepared since it's noise. I mean noise. Really, noise. If I were to make a transcription of a noise-track it would be something like 'ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGHRRRRUTWWWWWWWWWWWRGGGGKKK KKKKQZZZOAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEHRGHGHGHGHGHG '.

Now I've been thinking.

The Princess Amen.
Canada Offers Its Lakes To The Gods.
The 1948 Fan Convention.
And So To Bedlam.
August Underground.

Well, those first four all come from some Science Fiction stories, and the last one is also the title of what probably is the sickest movie ever made. Honestly, I've seen screenshots. Nevertheless, it sounds fancy. I don't care for the flick.

bulmasman 18th August 2004 10:13 PM

I already told you what to call it... Fake Plastic Cheese

:yes
