Fayray's COVER ALBUM 08/06/05

Fayray's releasing a COVER ALBUM on the 8th of June! This will be her first release since her album 'HOURGLASS' back in October 04. It'll consist of 70s-80s Pop/Rock American songs, and is priced relatively cheap compared to other Japanese albums.

Her past covers of "LOVE IN BLIND" and "don't cry out loud" blew me away (and with easily comprehensable English), so I'm definately looking forward to this one. :love

I found an old VHS tape with a live performance by FAYRAY of '願い' (Negai) from Feb 3rd 2004 on Heyx3, I haven't watched it yet so I'll see if I like her...:)

To add on to Kev's post, the album is tentatively called "Fayray's COVER ALBUM" and will feature the B-sides of her singles since she joined Avex till now, and some of her own self-covers resung in English, for a total of 11 to 13 tracks, as reported by hmv.co.jp. Frankly, I think it's a cheap ploy to earn more money for R&C Japan, but since I don't buy her singles, I think I might pick up this album over LISA's cover album if she covers "Time after time", although I still think LISA's version ranks supreme out of all that I've heard.

It should contain, in the very least,

- "I Touch Myself" (off "Over" single)
- "Private Eyes" (off "Remember" single)
- "a song for you" (off "Stay" single)
- "I do" (off "touch me, kiss me" single)
- "so far away" (off "touch me, kiss me" single)
- "LOVE IS BLIND" (off "sukida nante ienai" single)
- "Spooky" (off "negai" single)
- "Don't Cry Out Loud" (off "Look Into My Eyes" single)
- "My Funny Valentine" (off "aishitemo aishitarinai" single)
- "Landslide" (off "kuchizuke" single)
- "Someday" (off "kuchizuke" single)

That's 12 already, so she's definitely not including all of them. I want to hear her cover "Baby, if". =)

She'll also be releasing a live DVD on the same day, called "Live Tour 2004 HOURGLASS -Love At Last-", at a price of 4500 yen, featuring the tour and a making-of documentary. The title sounds very suspicious - but I'll be happy for her if she, indeed, has found love. =)

And the first press of "HOURGLASS" is still available. Make no mistake, I'll pick this up this year. Yay. =)

Spread the Fayray love!

She's a piano balladeer, far sweeter than Oni. And she has very good English, due to her having lived in America when she was younger. You can ignore her earlier pop stuff though, it's crap. XD

Brilliant!

Most of my favourite Fayray songs are actually her B-sides, and I've been having a headache as to how on earth I'm going to manage to own all my favourite songs from her. I hope she definately includes "LOVE IS BLIND", "I do", "Spooky" and "Don't cry out loud".

As long as those are it, I'm definitely buying it.

Don't know much about her, but I LOVE tears.

Wow, she's even doing PJ Harvey, that's pretty cool. Artwork looks good, by the way.

No self covers. But I like the tracklisting. I think I'll pick this one up after all, hopefully together with "HOURGLASS". =)

i don't understand
is she remake the old song for her album?

~K+ 29th May 2005 03:17 PM

Sadly it doesn't look like it's going to include all those lovely covers she's included as B-sides on her singles.

But yes, she will be re-making old classics, as it's a cover album.

Apparently these were recorded live, according to ongakuDB. And they have more info, some of which I guess they must've gotten from listening to sample copies.

The total length of the album is 48:01, and the musicians involved (well, probably not all, but some, and I'm not too sure about some of the names) are:

- Marc Ribot, guitar
- Sean Lennon, bass
- Kenny Walsen, drums
- Thomas Bartlett, keyboards
- Anthony Johnson, drums
- Dougie Bowne, production & drums
- Honda Yuka, production

I guess Fayray's involved with the piano. Sounds good. =)
