[2002] Who is the ideal duet partner for Ayu?

we've seen Ayu recording a duet with Keiko of globe for the
a-nation album.Plus,I remembered Ayu doing a rendition of 'silent night' with gackt some time ago. So who is the ideal duet partner for ayu? someone who can complement her high-pitched and emotional vocals?

Here are my top 3 choices:

1.enya
her celestial voice are the perfect complement to ayu's unique vocals.

2.jay chou
this talented Taiwanese singer/composer would make a great choice. his last duet 'wu ding' with landy wen was a KTV hit.

3.hirai ken
the most realistic choice. His soothing vocals make him the no.1 japanese pick.

some unlikely choices: nagase,hikki,

Welcome to the forum.

I think that Keiko was a great partner! I also think that it would be really cool to hear a duet with Ayu and Kaori Mochida (from ELT) and Tomiko Van (from Do As Infinity)!

Now THAT'd be an awesome team!! I would say Hikki, but her voice and Ayu's wouldn't work too well together. Perhaps a duet with Aikawa or even Namie could work, but I guess seeing it in action would help me visualise a better choice :P

I dunno, I think it would be interesting to hear a duet with Hikki! I think it would be nice, and I'm sure it would sell TONS of records! J-Pop's 2 biggest stars together on one song! That'd be awesome.

I think it'd be grat with Tomiko Van!! With boa too.

I have to agree with Omega. Utada's voice is very very different from Ayu's and her style of songs are veeeery different. Utada could go well with Misia or others that sound much more alike. I think Ayu could go well with Keiko and Kaori case their voices are good for trance and club styles. Ayumi with Tomiko Van or Aikawa would probably be could too since Ayu is good with rockish songs as well.

i wanna see
:heart :heart :heart ayu and nagase :heart :heart :heart

Hmm... Ayu was pretty good with Keiko, but it seemed like Keiko kinda drowned Ayu out a bit. A duet with Enya would be strange - not sure if I would like that too much. Hmm. I don't know. I think Ayu duets really well with herself. She harmonizes pretty well.

boogieordie 3rd December 2002 10:53 PM

I think the ideal duet partner is Keiko.. good thing they already did one ^_^

I dunno how they would sound.. but it'd be cute to have ayu and hikki do one, and it would also be really cute if her and nagase would do a love duet..

anyone but Tsuku, i didn't like his voice in Love ~since 1999~

i think that ayu is da best when dueting is when she duetz with meeh! :D i would probably beeh juss standing there.. lookin at mai goddess the whole time shez singing..

Ayu and Impact should do a love song together! :laugh :laugh :laugh And it will be played over and over again on their wedding day! :laugh

I think that it would be interesting to hear Ayu and Hikki do a song together, but it's very hard to imagine how it would sound. Hikki would do a long vibrato in the background while Ayu would probably sing at the top of her lungs. If Namie did a song with Ayu, then Namie would probably sing mostly English lyrics. I imagine it would be like Namie's song "Something'Bout the Kiss." The background singers would sing in English while Namie is simultaneously singing the same thing in Japanese. Ayu and Enya. . . hmm. . . I don't know how that would sound either.

How about Ayu and HALNA? That could be a good combination too. :think

Grantith 4th December 2002 12:38 AM

Ewwww Halna doesn't have that nice of a voice in my opinion. She's ok, but there are a lot of singers out there that are much better.

PinkSock 4th December 2002 02:34 AM

Hmmm... I think that Ayu and Da Pump should do another duet together! I really liked the song that they did for AyuReady together! They harmonized perfectly!
As for Hikki.... I think that her and Ayu's voice just won't mix at all... and not to mention that Hikki, at least in the U.S., is always regarded as having a voice 100 times better than Ayu's.... which I don't believe but I think that Ayu and her voice might be drowned! It's so fragile and girlish!:shrug

mrAznnizeguy 4th December 2002 04:08 AM

hey! ur rite!~ how kan i forget that? becuz of tha performance, i dled mostly all of Da Pump'z song and their If.. pv.. itz really good and i love that song.. Ayumi really should sing with Da Pump again.. haha..:P

mrAznnizeguy 4th December 2002 04:10 AM
