What do ya think of [AWAKE]?
 

For those of you L'Arc~en~Ciel fans .. what do you think of their new album [AWAKE]?

Personally .. as a fan .. I didn't really enjoy it. The singles they released up until the album release were fantastic :D but the album failed to satisfy my tastes. I don't mind ballads, but it seems like there are many slow songs on the album. I REALLY enjoyed "AS ONE." Ooh yes :lech

One of the songs (forgot the title) didn't even sound like Hyde :no but as the song went on, it sounded more and more like him.

Eh, I guess they are trying new styles. I miss their fast, upbeat, rock songs. I love their older albums .. but eh .. I don't see myself listening to [AWAKE] that much.

i LOVED this album..^^. I liked pretty much all the songs. The only other album i've lsitened to is SMILE and i thought AWAKE was much better.

I didn't like it very much. There were a couple good songs, but the rest I think was kinda disappointing. I really had my hopes up after finally liking something by them with SMILE, and now I get this ^^;

Well, I think I'm going to stick to their previous albums .. as I did LOVE SMILE a lot more than this one .. meh.

i'm kind of a late L'Arc fan, so i've only listened to SMILE.
but i thought this one was better. it flowed nicely.

which album do you guys think is their best? so i can go listen to more of their material. :]

I 've been too busy to have time to listen to it yet. *Wails*

But I didn't listen to SMILE very much, I can't really remember what any of the album tracks sound like at the moment...

bought my AWAKE album today. i must say it's a pretty good album even though there are certain things that are missing. there aint any songs that feature hyde's clear sweet voice (e.g. hitomi no juunin, time goes on). instead, hyde sounds old and i believe his voice must have been edited a lot. maybe his constant smoking is taking effect. Also, almost all the songs sound hauntingly similar. they lack the youthful and unique sounds of old days. i like songs like kasou, stay away, ibara no namida that are OH-SO-UNIQUE. now the songs seemed too.. bland. i like the ballads on the album though.

in contrust SMILE album was cool. it was a great mix of songs.

my fav songs: my dear (it moves me to tears) twinkle twinkle (it's so darn cute and uplifting), new world (same as previous), jyojyoshi (hyde sounds so hot)

dont really like: as one. this song is pretty similar to a track on SMILE album, but i prefer the latter track more.

P/S: brittany, i think that song u r saying that doesn't sound like hyde is either TRUST or MY DEAR. i remembered feeling rather disorientated while listening to the song. cuz it doesn't sound like hyde at the start.

Blue Dew -- I agree with you. There are only a few songs that were awesome, ones that stuck to me. I LOVE their old stuff .. .. ><! Jojoshi .. oh my god, I love that song so much. It's very touching.

I think HYDE used some sort of thing to change his voice. He doesn't need one, in my opinion. His voice is good enough. I was very surprised at a few of the songs -- his voice can go really really high :yes

hmm...I never liked Smile too much. I only liked a couple songs from it ^^" I really like this album though. All the singles are good, and I like Lost Heaven, As One, and Existence a lot. I don't really listen to the tracks after Jiyuu E No Shoutai xD I don't like ballads that much
