Onitsuka Chihiro:Another Best Collection
------------------------------
In a move sure to annoy some, Toshiba-EMI is releasing a new Chihiro Onitsuka best collection in September. Chihiro Onitsuka: SINGLES 2000-2003 [ CDA | TOCT-25767 | ¥2,913 | 2005.09.07 ] Chihiro Onitsuka: SINGLES 2000-2003 [ CD+DVD | TOCT-25766 | ¥3,800 | 2005.09.07 | Ltd. ] According to CDJapan, this will include all 12 of her Toshiba-EMI singles, a radio mix of "we can go", the original mix of "Castle Immitation", a cover and "Mamotteagetai". The DVD will contain live footage, "The Unplugged Show" filmed on August 5, 2003. ------------------------------ ^Credit to J-poop.^ This actually sounds nice, because I didn't get all her singles on the Ultimate Collection, but really, stop trying to make all this money off her Toshiba-EMI!! ><; |
Thank you for the info! Well, at least we get something from her.. I hope this includes songs like Beautiful fighter, Gekkou, Cage, Our song, Innocence and Rasen, what weren't on the Ultimate collection. I'm still hoping for new singles and maybe a new album, though..

The tracklist will probably be something similiar to this:
1.Shine 2.Gekkou 3.Cage 4.Memai 5.edge 6.infection 7.LITTLE BEAT RIFLE 8.Ryus..etc 9.Sign 10.Beautiful Fighter 11.Ii Hi...etc 12.Watashi to WALTZ wo 13.We can go (Radio Mix) 14.Castle imitation (8 cm single mix) 15.Mamotteagetai The order might be a bit different, but that's the same amount of tracks as the Ultimate Collection. Bold Tracks are the ones that weren't already on the Ultimate Collection, 8/15. I guess it's actually a lot of new stuff for those who only own the Ultimate Collection, but only a few new tracks for those who already own her first two albums. I might consider this for the DVD, and those 7 (Already have the Castle imitation single) tracks I don't have yet. The price is a bit much, but the DVD will probably be worth it. :) But I still need to buy 'Sodatsu Zasso' because it's an awesome single, and I really want to support Oni on her new record company. Is it true that Toshiba EMI got rid of her because they didn't think she could sing the same way again after her throat surgery? I'm glad she made her little 'bite me Toshiba EMI' song with Sodatsu Zasso. Read the translation, it's awesome. But she really needs a new single/album with Universal/A&M Records. :o |

I hope her throat is okay now and it doesn't bother her when she's singing. I'd really would like to hear something new from her. I hope she makes a comeback soon! |
I don't have it right now that I know of, but I'll look for it. Have you heard the sample on her official site, it's a good song, a lot different from her old stuff though. :)

Thank you for the sample! I listened to it sounded very good! It is different, but I still like it very much. :)

I am so excited for this collection and will likely buy it. This has little to do with the artist, as she has departed from TO-EMI. But... it's good music, folks.
Now, I'm waiting anxiously for her next release.... I miss Oni. ;_; |

Toshiba-EMI dropped Oni because she had a dispute about insisting on not using copy protection on her CDs.
Meh, I'd rather save up for the Single Box Set, it really depends on whether the DVD content is the full version and how long it is. I brought YAIKO's Single Collection/YAIKO's selection box set for the DVD and I wasn't impressed that it's just 40 minutes of digest with choppy content. |
thx for the info...

Take note that the single version of "SHINE" is very different from the album version on "INSOMNIA". So that's another track to buy.
And she was dropped from Toshiba due to poor sales as well. It's reported that her 4 singles after "Sugar High" sold a combined total of less than 100,000 copies (which I don't really believe, frankly; given how "ii hi tabidachi, nishi e" and "watashi to WALTZ wo" lasted on the charts for 17 and 12 weeks respectively, they'd have sold more than 100,000 copies between them; I guess they meant sales for each single averaged less than 100,000 copies). Meh, I got my friend to pre-order it for me - the CD+DVD version, of course. But I'd be mightily pissed if it didn't include like footage of the whole concert. But she does get a share of the profit from sales of the disc given how she wrote the material and all, so I guess. And I want the Single Box as well. |
Dear TOSHIBA-EMI, just make the whole concert on DVD separately, and that may actually even sell more than this one. =X
|
Shhh, don't give them ideas Findlay. Anyway, what I find weird is that HMV.co.jp hasn't listed the item yet.
|
luminaire: I fear that they might eventually categorize all her songs and make different kinds of compilations or re-release the albums at a cheaper price or on other formats like what BMG did to MISIA; apparently TOSHIBA-EMI are much worse than I thought they were. *Sighs*
|
If they were to release anything, they really should release a live album of Oni. That I'd be inclined to buy, like MISIA's live Hoshizora album.
|
I may actually be able to get this as my friend is going to japan next month *fingers crossed*
|
I am surprised that another best album is being released, but thanks for the information. I don't think I'll be getting this since I bought The Ultimate Collection.
|
How is it that Toshiba-EMI is able to trick me into getting this when I already have the Ultimate Collection?!? I really want it. Besides the cover that is blech, this is a good tracklist and the DVD...
*Dies because he has never ever seen/heard Chihiro Onitsuka live... http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.asp...-music/did-97/ But then again, 9 new songs (for me) and a DVD seems like not a lot for $40. I will only buy the CD+DVD one, so I think I'll just end out buying her 2nd live DVD (Because I absolutely must see infection live)... |
