Unofficial Merchandise

This is a little old, from november -

A Chiba Prefecture trader's venture into pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki's unofficial merchandise has landed him in trouble with the law, it was learned Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Police Department has sent documents to prosecutors accusing the unnamed trader for selling the singer's logo-shaped pins without permission from her Tokyo promotion company.

The Mobara-based trader was dejected. "I got them in South Korea when I went there in April. But I haven't sold any yet."

Police said the trader is accused of displaying 12 unofficial Hamasaki pins at his shop on Sept 25. He is also accused of selling fake European fashion house products. The investigative documents on his case were sent to prosecutors on Nov. 14.

Although Hamasaki's logo is not registered, the Unfair Competition Prevention Law bans the unofficial use of well-known trademarks.

The chart-topper's logo, which is based on her initial "A," is used on her album jackets and other official merchandise. (Mainichi Shimbun, Nov. 19, 2002)

Hahaha, that symbol isn't registered? They should really go do it, I mean how much time could that take? Prevent whackos like this fella, hehehe :)

i cannot see the symbol ><

The symbol is Ayu's "A" symbol...

Well, It depends on wheater or not it's cheaper to let it go unregistered and let it be protected under the Unfair Competetition Provention law. I'm sure there's probably other things involved with registering it.

Their must be some reason why they've never registered it.
