What does it mean by "Visualised by Ayumi"

in some of her more recent concerts DVD it says "Visualised by Ayumi Hamasaki" wat does it mean by that?

Her ideas all went into it. Like she came up with concepts for costumes & sets even if she didn't actually DESIGN it herself, and she works with the stage director & choreographer to decide where she wants to be onstage (watching how it'll look with her stand-in onstage). I heard an interview once with an english-speaking photographer who worked with her during DOME TOUR 2001 saying she did this. She has ALOT of creative input & power.

^wow, cool! i never knew that. i always kind of wondered how much of that was ayumi's decision. :D

I always had this image in mind:
Ayu: So, I'm going to be in a baroque style dress on a balcony, singing HAPPY ENDING. There will be a guy under the balcony, and people in black robes try to stop them. Meanwhile, women in powdered wigs will try to distract me. Then the guy will get carried off by the people in black robes, and I'll freak out and leave. And then Peco and Princess will sing a little bit. Capeesh?
People in charge: Yes Miss Hamasaki.

^ LOL That's cute! :D
I always kind of wondered the same thing.
I don't want to go off-topic but I always thought the same with her songs. Like even if she doesn't compose them, does she kinda tell the composer that she invisions (if that's the right word) it as a ballad, dance, or dark song? You know?
Anyway, I'm glad she visualised some of the concerts and yada. She's so creative!

Does the visualizing include who/what is shown on the dvd?
For example does she choose at this moment of the performance, that the dancers should be shown or herself on the dvd?

That would have to do with video editing, and it's hard to say whether she'd be involved in that. I know that in photoshoots she chooses the shots she likes best rather than the photographer, so it's entirely possible she has a hand in the film editing of her DVDs... maybe Delirium-Zer0 knows a more concrete answer? :P

wow thats pretty kool~ im glad Ayu inputs alot on in her concerts :)

devilayu 16th September 2005 07:06 AM

Generally, all artists have input in their concerts but most don't actually want/need credit for it. Ayumi definitely has more influence over the look than say a newer artist but she's not the only one out there with creative power.

Delirium-Zer0 17th September 2005 07:09 AM

Nah, the specific shots & edits are all the director & editor. (Usually the director will decide when things are seen, and the editor just has to get that timing right. On the TV broadcasts, it's aaallll the director and that's a tense job).

And devilayu's dead-on about typical artist involvement. Any singer, especially one who's really established, always gives alot of input on the concept of any music videos, concerts, costumes, photo shoots, album covers... They usually pick people who share their vision to work with.

In the case of concert dvds, it might be ayu's idea to do a certain thing for the intro (though judging from the VERY different types of intros, i doubt it), or it was probably her idea to show off-shot during Arena Tour & Stadium Tour 2002. That sort of thing.

..In most cases "Visualized by XX" Means that whatever you were watching couldn't have been possible without XX
