Nippon Records Taisho

Who saw it? It was great! Otsuka Ai performed Planetarium (I think that's what it's called? o_O), Mika Nakashima did Glamorous Sky, w-inds performed the same song that they performed at Kouhaku, Yuna Ito did Endless Story, and I can't remember who did what else, except that Koda Kumi won (but I think everyone already knows that and I thought I saw a thread about it).

I can't remember all the newcomers, there were four of them, but I only remember O's (can't remember what they sang), High and Mighty (they sang PRIDE), and AAA (Blood on Fire). AAA won and rightly so, they were amazing! The group was made up of both guys and girls and their dance moves were awesome. :syesyes Some of the guys did some neat flips :clapclap

My personal favs: Otsuka Ai, Mika Nakashima (Glamourous Sky is a beautiful song), Lead, w-inds, Hikawa Kiyoshi (my fav enka singer. Yay!! definite fav :D ), Yuna Ito, Suzuki Ami (she did a good job :yes) , and of course, AAA :syeah

Yeah...I missed it this year. It doesn't sound like I missed much though...I would have liked to have seen Mika and Yuna, but if Hikki and Ayu and Ken and BoA and them aren't there, I'm not that interested. Did Yuna-chan win anything? Mika? Did she win something? I heard Kuu won THE Award...??? O_O Something about double-stick tape!

What did Koda win? :irked

Hikki only released two singles and I think Ayu doesn't participate anymore.

No, I don't think she does. Too bad, I missed her the times she actually did perform :cry I heard that she won before with Dearest and with No way to say.

I think everyone who performs at the Taisho has won some kind of Gold Award, that's why they're performing. But other than the Gold Award, I don't think Mika or Yuna won anything else. AAA won the newcomer award, some enka lady won the best singing voice award, Koda Kumi won the big award, and I'm not totally sure but I think there was a popularity award and I don't remember who won that cuz I didn't really care. I really think Mika should've won something!!! :dumbfound

I really wanted Mika to win the big award because I preferred her releases more than Kuu-chan's. I'm really sure that Demure_Dusk is right in that Ayu doesn't participate in the Taisho anymore. It's because she won an unprecedented 3 years consecutively that she wants to give other artists a fair shot. She won for Dearest, Voyage and No way to say. She probably would have won for Moments last year, but there was that whole Avex/Matsuura/President scandal and the fact that it would be her fourth year running.
