International Star
I am wonderin does Ayu considers as an International Star? How do an artistes qualify to be termed international star? I know a few of them, e.g. Zhang Ziyi. I'd say ayu isnt an international star as she only expands her markets within asia region. But on the other hand Ayu has fans all ard the world(can tell this in ahs), so is ayu an international star?:tipsy

Ayu has once made it clear that she does NOT have any intentions on becoming an international artist. And I think that this is a really good decision.
|
^ i agree!
|
well selling a few thousand albums maybe outside of asia doesnt qualify someone as being an international star
and I agree that it is a good decision not to expand further :) |
perhaps she feel that she will make a mockery out of herself if she decided to go into the US or europe? cos she doesnt noe how to speak englih fluently??
|
I think is better so, I think the singers who become international change their style and become to much in occidentalized style, I like Dir en Grey and after their Tour they made a single "Clever Sleazoid" or smth like that and its too much occidentalized I dont like it at all...of course is good for the fans that cant go in Japan to see their fav artists but I am afraid of it...
I really would like Namie to come in Europe (soon I will live in Japan but for my friends and my sister who like her it would be good) but I am afraid she will be critized from people bcs they will say "she look like that occidental artist, she copy it etc".. |
I think may be after seeing UTADA try her best, that it wasn't the best after all?
|
Ayu has not intentions of going international. And after Utada's success, or the lack of, I'd say that's a good decision.
|
Ayu and Avex had MUCH market in Japan and Asia... no need of International selling.
|
well , technically Ayu is an international star already. She is famous in countries outside Japan , like Taiwan and China and etc.
I also agree it's a good thing she doesn't try to pursuit fame in the West , I'd rather have her focusing on japanese music. |
She is known internationally like others have mentioned, but I would not call her a star outside of Japan and perhaps a few neighboring countries.

USA doesnt seem to "support" asian artists...i cant think of any asian artists right now that are actually popular. maybe half asian, but even that, they arent that popular...so if ayu were to come to the USA, first she would probably be mocked becuz of her accent, and pop music is really declining in the USA...from what I can see, and her songs would probably never make it...except maybe a few. However, she could release some songs to clubs and stuff, cuz people in clubs are mostly there to dance, and im sure they wouldnt be like "this isnt in english, so im not dancing." lolol
