With Startin'/Born to Be... Ayu has surpassed Seiko Matsuda for the number of #1 singles by a female singer.

Seiko had 25 #1 singles.
Ayumi Hamasaki has 26 and counting.

Ayu has had a total of 37 Top 10 singles.

Ayu is the no. 1 female artist because ZARD was a group, later became one solo female singer, but not in the start.

considering ayu is still popular, and she will probably continue to get number 1's, the record will be harder to break becuz as long as she keeps getting the number 1's, people will have to get more and more :D
