CDL Question
I never really understood what the countdown was. Actually, the only concerts I've seen... let's see. Yeah, none of them have been CDLs. Now, I've seen clips of CDLs, but only songs, nothing to do with the countdown.
Does the song tracklisting have anything to do with the "countdown" itself? What is the countdown? |
CDL's are done on the 30th and 31st of December. She'll usually sing upbeat songs before and after the countdown portion. The countdown is basically the countdown to the new year. She'll countdown 10-1 with the audience, say "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" and break into a song. CDL's usually have a lower budget than Arena concerts. The show on the 30th is more like a practice run for the actual show. The DVD version's are the New Year's Eve show.

Oh, okay. That makes a whole lot of sense now.
I realized that the CDLs were never as fancy and elaborate as the Arena Tours. And I guess CDLs aren't as frequent as others. Thank you, Phantoma! |
^Well, they are about as frequent. CDLs happen once every year, twice if you see it like half of the apperance happen when the new year has come, past midnight. Arena Tours has also been happening once per year lately.
An Arena Tour usually consist of 20+ shows while the count down only is, as has already been mentioned, 2. |
There was however one Arena Tour spanning over the end of 2003 and beginning of 2004 (AT03-04) and I think it replaced the CDL that time.
|
^It did.

however, the Arena Tour 2003 ~ 2004 started at 24th January. but they used entirely the same thing except some slightly different costumes and hairstyle. |
i like CDL better than Arena Tour though... I guess it is just me...
Just finished downloaded the CDL 05-06... I know its kinda late but hey it is very very nice... |

It's because of the fact that there's no DVD I thought they never had any CDL for that year, I thought the shows was included in AT2k3-2k4.
|
Yeah... date-wise it was separate from the tour, but the merchandise was the same, the set list had only minimal differences, and at the cdl-concert they still called it arena tour. SORTA kinda like how Open Air Live 2002 pretty much just counts as part of Stadium Tour 2002.
|
^Was that Open Air Live featured in the Stadium Tour 2002 DVD? If I remember correctly the DVD shows many clips from several different stadiums, but it was several months ago I watched it.
|
haha. another evidence would be in the CDL 2005 ~ 2006 DVD. during the opening, you can see the different CDLs for different years. and for 2003 ~ 2004, you can see the set is the same as Arena Tour 2003 ~ 2004. however, i noticed the hairstyle and costume for Greatful days were changed in AT 2003 ~ 2004.
