Lily Allen, anyone?

Anybody here listens to her? I absolutely love her music ever since I heard Smile two months ago. Then one thing led to another and now I have the album on my PC, can't wait to buy it! It's absolutely fantastic. When I read the rave reviews, it made me want the album more.

But even here, Allen keeps her revenge sweet — she sounds like she's singing about how ice cream or puppies or being in love makes her smile, which gives the song an extra sting.

My thoughts, written by Allmusic. Even the tracks that got criticized sounds wonderful.

Regal Zonophone

-The album title is taken from a lyric in the song "Knock 'Em Out".
-Contains the UK #1 single "Smile".
-This album was a MySpace featured album, which meant that fans could listen to it, before it was released
-The song "Alfie" is about her little brother Alfie Owen-Allen
-The track "Cheryl Tweedy" failed to make the album, although it was released in the special edition of "Smile"
-The week after its UK release, it was placed at #10 in the Starbucks Music chart in the US, despite few stores having it on import only.
-According to Los Angeles radio station KDLD, the album will hit U.S. stores in early 2007.

I've only heard "Smile" but I looove it :yes

So.. you have the whole album nee :lech ..

Mad_Cactuar 8th September 2006 12:17 PM

Try torrents. :D If you want, I can upload the Smile B-sides, "Cheryl Tweedy" and "Absolutely Nothing". They're also equally fantastic. Although nothing beats Smile and LDN, of course..

Never heard before her name...is she new?

KanDa KoTObuKI 8th September 2006 01:56 PM

i adore this girl! She's just so funny and cool ^^ And her voice is really nice to hear! Her first album is really good IMO if you've never heard it, listen to " Smile ", and you'll fall in love with her ^_^

bulmasman 8th September 2006 04:49 PM

To be fair her music is really quite good, but as a person she's horrible. When asked about how she was gonna celebrate her birthday i believe her reply was something along the lines of "snorting coke and getting drunk" - wow there's a classy lady for you. Plus, the fame has gone right to her head, instead of focusing on her music lately all she's done is launch attacks on half the singers in the music industry. She need's to get over herself before i'll take her seriously.

ayu1m 8th September 2006 04:55 PM

Wow, seriously o_O?

That really sucks.. I thought she was more that innocent girl :shrug

I still like her voice and music but as a person, her points dropped :\

bulmasman 8th September 2006 05:01 PM

I'll look online to see if i can find the article about the "snorting".

-edit-

Found it :D

I'll celebrate with coke

CHART sensation LILY ALLEN has made a showbiz super-howler – saying she will celebrate her first No1 by taking CLASS A DRUGS.

Asked how she would toast her brilliant new single Smile topping the charts, she replied: “Gak.”

If you’re unfamiliar with drug slang, “gak” is another word for cocaine — named after the feeling users get after a PETE DOHERTY-sized indulgence.

She bad mouthes celebrities as if she thinks she's better than them, even Madonna, I don't know how she dare.

She's ugly.

She's a chav. (British expression for those who don't understand...for lowlives who wear horrible clothing such as track suits, burbery and stupid big earings).

Her songs are annoying.

She is annoying.

I want to punch her.

Yes. I'm pretty passionate about my hatred for her. ^-^

I've only heard "Smile" and it's okay.
Didn't know about all this drug stuff though... :innocent

Mad_Cactuar 9th September 2006 05:56 AM

Hell, she even posted in her blog it was a JOKE. She's against drugs in her songs too.

I love the way she bashes other artists. :D

- James Blunt rhymes with his surname.
- Kylie Minogue is an insult to Glastonbury.

And many more, but the James Blunt one got me laughing cos it's so true.

No thank you. :)

Fine, keep on listening to those goodie two-shoes and their crap music since public image matters so much to you. And while you're at it, watch while Lily Allen rises to the top of the bunch. :)

Her reviews are awesome, they're really true. But most of the sites contrast with each other when they mention the worst tracks. Which shows how good her CD is. :D

so you have to be a (former) drug addict with a really bad reputation to be a good musician? somehow i don't see the logic in your thoughts

No, she just happens to be a good musician with a bad reputation.

If one day Ayu gets apprehended and sent to jail for coccaine use, we'd all give up on her too?
