Ayu siblings?

i was browsing the internet and came up with this site http://www.japan-zone.com/modern/hamasaki_ayumi.shtml

as you read on it says she has a older brother? I havent heard anything or seen her brother at all. is this true that she has a brother?

I believe this may be the only site with that information.

I doubt that she has a brother. I've only heard of a such idea right now :/

yea me too. On other sites it said she was introduced to those artist/bands by a relative. maybe it is true?

I do hear she has a younger brother... but the info from papers not credible so cant be too sure about it.

She does not have a sibling. That information is false and I believe was culled from a mistranslation.

You hit it on the head. On the original bio written by Mr. Kaz for the first version of Ayu's official website, the "relative" (shown in kanji as an older male relative, like an uncle perhaps) was translated as "older brother" for the version of the bio that was put on ayu's official English site (which only lived until just after ayu-mi-x II was released for some reason). But various fan sites & sites like japan zone simply copied-and-pasted the bio from that site, and the "older brother" thing has been an object of confusion ever since.

I saw this on divine ayu....

As a child I listened to rock music (Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple), influenced by a relative. Now I like listening to soul music such as Babyface and En Vogue.

I am not sure if she meant a sibling or not.

One can safely assume that if ayu had a brother who influenced her music taste that much, she would have mentioned him at some point in an interview, or someone would have dug up a photo of him the way they did ayu's mother. In 8 years that hasn't happened that even older ayu fans know of, so I'm doubting any such brother exists.

I do, however, vaguely remember reading a quote from ayu that made me 100% sure she was an only child. What it was and where it was from, I unfortunately don't remember. x_x

Edit: on a whim I checked masa's site to see if it had come from there... sure enough, Rockin' On Japan interview from 2001: "My family members were all females --- grandmother, Mommy and Ayu. I was brought up in a perfect female family."

So yeah that's it, it was just the three of them.

(A) Yes.
