Sorry that I ask so many questions, i really hope you don't mind.

I was watching Live Style 2006 and I noticed that Namie doesn't wear those earplugs. So when I looked at Kuu's concert (LIVE TOUR 2006-2007) I noticed she didn't wear those earplugs either.

But Ayu does where them... :confused

So can someone please explain to me, why Namie and Kuu don't wear them, and why Ayu does wear them?

-Ayu has a powerful live band ~ Kuu has a backing track, so it's not so powerful

-Ayu wears earplugs I think because of that problem with her ear? I forgot what it's called though :headache Tinnitus or something xP

Yeah, that's true... but Namie also has a band...
I don't really like the fact that Kuu doesn't have a band, dunno why.

Well, I asked a friend of mine (who is into music): why do artists wear those earplugs? She said: Than they can hear themselves and the music better ...

-I've never seen a NAmie live, so I just assumed that she didn't have a live band, since most of her music, like Koda Kumi's, doesn't need a live band for :P

-That might be true, I'm not sure xDD I just thought it was because of her ear problem =\

Yeah, those earplugs are used because without them, Ayumi and her band could not hear each other... I think.

Its like said before...you hear yourself trough it...at Starsearch germany they said that it is very strange in the first moment but It really helps to keep your voice where you want it to be....

Namie ahs a live band ever since she started and most of the songs sound much better with it....altogh I think she doens´t need them...maybe its okay for her....

and they are damn ugly...Ayu gets extrem big ears

Yeah my friend also said, that they hear the music so if they go to slow with singing they can easily catch up...

I think songs sound more rockish with a live band (at least with Ayu) so that's why I think it's to bad Kuu doesn't have a band.

but yeah, they're ugly! and so boring!
Question: Have you seen the performance of Koda Kumi at Million Artist Live?
She had earplugs there and they where awesome: not to big and shiny!

Some earplugs are really big, while other can be small and have a colour that matches human skin colour, so they're barely visible.

Then again, I'm not sure, but I guess the audio levels on the stage aren't harmful - as the dancers do well without earplugs - so maybe it's actually a matter of taste, perhaps some people don't feel like they need them.

Doesn´t Ayu were them mostly on ballads during the encore?

I think I saw tons of lives where she doesn´t have them...

But mainly, I mean concerts...

yeah i know...i checked some Cds again and she has them all the time but in Ayus case I really would say its because off her earissue

the earplugs are for the artist to be able to hear themselves and the music being played..
cause when sound travels there's a delay, so if you don't wear them sometimes, the artist is out of sync...

And cause Ayu's got that hearing problem as well as performing with a band and in an arena, the sound arrive at times much different to someone say sitting on the 3rd level of the last row compared to Ayu....
So the earplugs keep her in sync.. well keeps everyone in sync...

Kuu has smaller venues as well as backtracking, which she's used to...
And I think Kuu chose backtracking as a choice rather than to have a band...
but I think from now on she'll be with a band...
