Lacuna Coil is AMAZING. I'd back the ones already suggested.

You might also try Epica, Xandria, Leaves' Eyes, Theatre of Tragedy, and After Forever. Epica is more operatic kind of like Nightwish, while all the others are your basic metal for the most part.

ooh! i'm a big fan of female-fronted metal bands :D

another recommendation not mentioned is l'ame immortelle, but they sing in german. Oh and if you're a fan of Tarja (the ex-Nighwish singer) she has a solo album out (My Winter Storm). it's not too metal, but it's pretty good!

I'm a HUGE fan of female fronted metal bands! I reccomend Delain to you.. you'd love them if you like Nightwish and Within Temptation! All Ends is also very good, but they're not very well known.

I would also have to recommend Lacuna Coil, and the same two albums mentioned. Their song "Heaven's a Lie" is amazing.
