Yamada graduated from Okinawa Actor's School. In 1999, while working as a model for the Japanese fashion magazine CanCam under an exclusive contract, she also worked as a singer in the group y'z factory (formed with two other students of the Okinawa Actor's School) and released a total of six singles and one album, but in 2002 the group disbanded.

Following the group's break up, Yamada moved to television, making her acting debut in the 2001 drama series Kabachitare! which led to many other drama roles such as in Kange! Danjiki Goikkosama, and Orange Days as well as hosting jobs for NTV’s Minna no Terebi and Fuji TV’s F1 Grand Prix. She has also starred in a few films acting alongside many prominent young stars including, Ryuhei Matsuda, Hiroki Narimiya and Shugo Oshinari.

Yamada has also appeared in advertisements for Nissin instant foods, Ezaki Glico, Vodafone cellular phones, Kanebo line of cosmetics, Canon and most recently Fujitsu Ten navigation systems.

In 2006 Yamada debuted as a solo artist with the single "REAL YOU" which was used as the theme song for the movie Akihabara@DEEP (starring Yamada herself) and peaked at #10 on the Oricon Charts.

I really want to hear her album. I've only heard "REAL YOU", and it wasn't that bad.

I've only heard parts of her song when she was on Arashi no Shukudaikun teaching them yoga. But I think I want to give her a listen, she's gorgeous and a good dancer I hear.

speaking of arashi, she was on utawara with matsujun, lol. she danced to a janet jackson song really good. :P

^ she also acts in dramas. she was with oguri shun in binbo danshi from january - march, so filming was probbably taking that time away from the album. i dunno, lol.

Wo I am not anbig fan of her but 'leave all behind' is pretty good! Is a single or is a song from the album?

it's her new single on april 23rd. i'm pretty sure it'll be on her debut album. :D

I think she's a lot better singer than you'd expect, her being a popular model before & really "idol"-ish. not to mention she is definitely one of THE most gorgeous j-pop stars ever ...

I think all of her singles have been good except for "Fly So High" which was just really bland. "EYES ON ME" is the best, but I like her latest one a lot too.

my top 2 favorites are EYES ON ME and REAL YOU. :D

I only come across her in Nodame Cantabile SP, Orange Days and Binbo Danshi!

^I thought it's like any other typical pretty girls who have so-so vocal.
But I'm wrong. I'm really impressed with her well-trained vocal.
And she dances! I'm quite surprised! =)
