[article] Japanese boy band promotes Viet Nam

Excerpt:
Quote:

One of Japan’s hottest boy bands, W-inds, have arrived in Viet Nam to take part in the Viet Nam-Japan Music Gala This Peace, We Have Dreamed this weekend.

At a press conference in the capital yesterday, W-inds three members’ Ryohei Chiba, Keita Tachibana, and Ryuichi Ogata said they were very happy to be taking part in the concert, which cheers 35 years of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Japan (September 21). The event will be hosted at the National Convention Centre Ha Noi tonight and the Hoa Binh Theatre in HCM City tomorrow night.

The show will be a good opportunity to bolster ties between the two countries, Goodwill Ambassador to Viet Nam, singer Sugi Ryotaro said. Ryotaro will also perform at the show, along with other Japanese stars including Godai Natsuko, Akikawa Masafumi, Rimi Nastukawa and Shimatani Hitomi. Famous names in the Vietnamese pop industry, Thanh Lam, My Linh, My Tam, Ho Quynh Huong, Trong Tan and Tan Minh will also strut their stuff at the gala, which will be aired live on Viet Nam Television and shown later on Japan’s NHK channel.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! Hitomi Shimatani was in Vietnam! ^_^ My cousins better have been there.... Oh wait, it was in Hanoi. Never mind. Thanks so much for the pictures, Rocky Raven. That's sooooo awesome. I can just die of happiness. But not really cause I wanna go see some JPop artists in person.

Thanks, she looked pretty ^^ I wonder what were the songs that she sang.

Kaiouforever 25th May 2008 07:10 PM

Does anyone have a tracklist or videos from the performances? I wanna see what Hitomi sang (as well as My Tam)

I watched the live on TV because I couldn't get a ticket for the concert. w-inds. was very cute, I'm not a fan of w-inds. but I have to say that, their fangirls here were crazy to see w-inds., they say that their fans from Hong Kong and Thailand came too. Fans in Hanoi were super lucky to have their signs, but Natsukawa Rimi didn't sign :(. When they came to Ho Chi Minh city, they increased the securities =.=.

:P I don't remember Goudai Natsuko's songs. For Akikawa Masafumi, it's Sen no Kaze ni Natte and Subaru, Warabi Gami and Nada Sousou for Natsukawa Rimi, Nakitai Nara and Amairo no Kami no Otome for Shimatani Hitomi, and Ame Ato and Shiki for w-inds. Hitomi-san sang a more ballad ver Amairo no Kami no Otome, they all sang songs with Japanese titles.

My Tam sang her Vietnamese cover version of Depend on You and Koibito yo, we were very disappointed that she sang japanese covers.

^ That is a shame. My Tam is pretty talented, and I'm sure that was lost in Japanese covers. Ah well, that's what other performances are for. A ballad version of Amairo? That should be cool. Thanks for all the info.
